keeping a book for multiple person

what is the best software for taking bets and being a bookie for smaller group of persons? Ive tried excel sheet with formula , but that didnt end up so well. Help is seriously needed here if anyone can please help direct me.

I've never done it but...seems like ol' fashion style...use a notebook. Don't want ur computer crashing causing you to lose information.

and you can always carry the notebook with you...and can use it anywhere.
