WHY the Blue Jays are so bad? Will be swept at home by Baltimore? The worst team in AL?
Why???

The two-time All-Star was claimed off waivers by Chicago and learned the news about 30 minutes before the first pitch between the Blue Jays and New York Yankees. The White Sox assume his entire huge contract while Toronto receives no compensation.
Unbelievable. Rios was being paid for his potential and not his performance and has had some mental breakdowns in the field and on the basepaths the past month or so but how could they not get anything for him? Not even a player to be named later?
Rios definetly has the potential to be a player to really comeback and haunt the Jays.
I would have rather seen them let Vernon Wells go for zip rather than Rios.
JP better get those 4 prospects for Halladay in the offseason or else he should be let go.

They would let Wells go for zip, if anyone would actually take him. Noone will touch his contract, not even for free.

It's an awful move if Toronto had any intention of contending next season. They clearly don't. What are they going to do with the freed up money? Get Figgins? Abreu? Makes no sense. Halladay is the next guy to go, because Rogers and its shareholders know this team isn't worth investing in.

Contending next season? They are already talking about bringing up Ruiz and Snider by September. Rogers wants to have an $80 million payroll next season, including the money they're paying BJ. The Rios move had to made and the fact that the White Sox called their bluff and offered them nothing tells you that.
