    Screw the Pirates!
Sons of bitches, trading within the division to help the Cubs again! All this time I thought Chicago's Triple-A club was in Iowa, and it turns out to be in Pittsburgh.

I feel awfully bad for the good folks of Pittsburgh and the oldtime Pirates fans. But jesus h. christ, this franchise needs to be dissolved and anyone who has been involved in ownership or the front office the past 10-12 years should never be allowed to screw up a team again. Ever.

Hmmm... I was thinking Boston's Triple-A club was Pawtucket, but also seems to be out in Pittsburgh

Yeah I don't understand that at all how do you trade players, decent players to a rival division team. It just makes no sense its almost like they don't want to win.

A dual AAA team, interesting and I concur. What came to mind for me as an Astros fan was when Pittsburgh dealt Lofton and Aramis Ramirez to Chicago in '03, and the way the schedule worked out was Houston ended up facing those two players in about 20-21 games instead of 15-16 if they were with one NL Central club the whole year. The Bucs got Bobby Hill and Jose Hernandez out of the deal. It would be one thing if Pittsburgh actually ever fcuking built around a player they get in one of these deals, but as it is the whole thing has simply become the Pirates serving as a staging point to help the bigger clubs for a playoff run.

I was talking to my friend about this the other day. The pirates have had some talent roll through their organization, but they never get anything legitimate in return. The brian giles trade seems to be the only time i can remember them making a trade that even helped their team. Poor players. At least they all find a ticket out of town soon enough.

I have always said this dating back ten years ago that the pirates are the farm team for mlb.

The Pirates need to push hard to trade Duke. Then in a couple years they will be able to trade Andrew McCutchen and Garrett Jones.

Gotta tear it down before you build it back up. Go look at any knowledgeable baseball outlet, Baseball Prospectus, Keith Law, Fangraphs, John Sickels, etc, and they will all say the Pirates are doing the right thing. The Franchise had no minor league talent, and no major league talent, that was the real embarassment, Hunington is trying to clear up Littlefields's mess. There is nothing wrong with that.

The Pirates are doing what your Astros should be doing, Willie.

Except they've been tearing it down for 15 years and they've never built a damn thing. It's the same old cycle. You think the Pirates will be contenders in 2 or 3 years? I'd bet against it. They'll be doing the same thing: trading away any major leaguers they have for pennies on the dollar.
