I just took the Giants on the ML and also bet them into several different parlays. I guess that means I don't like the Phillies in this one.

Seriously, the Phillies haven't lost two games in a row in 4 weeks, so they are overdue for that, and they are jetting in to SF from Arizona, where they got shut out 4-0 in their last game, losing a chance to sweep the lowly DBacks. In the last five games Philadelphia has played, their run production has gone from 14 to 9 to 6 to 4 to 0. The Phillies will be facing Jonathan Sanchez, who pitched a no-hitter in his last start at home. And Philadelphia is counting on the inexperienced Rodrigo Lopez to pitch well again. ESPN says Lopez is "making a bid to keep his spot in the rotation" after coming up from the minors on July 3.

I have cited several facts that might sway you to avoid the Phillies in this game. But there are several other facts that I didn't mention that might sway you to bet on the Phillies in this game. Bottom line: do whatever YOU think is right.

I think that you are being a bit misleading here. Sanchez did indeed through a no-no in his last home game against San Diego, but has not fared well on nearly every other outing. Also, calling Lopez inexperienced is rather silly, he has had 165 career starts at the big league level. Proven; no. Experienced; yes.

Point taken about Lopez. I was trying to find a way to say that he has only started 4 games in the majors this season. He has pitched relatively well in those 4 games, but he is a journeyman with a 68-65 MLB record.

And you say Sanchez "has not fared well on nearly every other outing" besides his no-hitter. He is 3-1 at home this season with a 3.27 ERA. That's pretty damn good.

Good point about Sanchez, he's 3-9 on the season with a 5.15 ERA but best when he is at home. Do you happen to know what teams he has faced at home?

As for Lopez, I know what you mean. He is a veteran, but its hard to know what to expect this year from him...

Same here LT. I was on Philly in their last game against Arizona, but I'm puzzled as to why the line opened as low as it did for them against such an inconsistent (overall) pitcher in Sanchez.

The giants offense is so incredibly anemic i don't know if I can bring myself to ever wager on them... It's hard to even bet on Lincecum or Cain because if they give up 1 or two their offense may not be able to compensate for that...I like the Phillies here... BOL All

On the Phillies heavy. Phillies are 11-3 after a loss when facing a lefty their next game. Phillies have only been shut out twice this season and responded with 12 and 5 runs respectively. 5 runs is enough to beat a Giants squad who can't hit, have no Rowand, and who have a shaky Sanchez on the hill.

The Giants won't score more than one run. Phillies RL.

                          On with the Phils Today
                          Also got the Mets
                          parlays with the cubs.
I think the Phils will take it to the giants today.

                          Here is some info.
Don't tail me I am a rookie at this but I love stats.

The bad news is that there are plenty of other pitchers emptying wallets at an alarming rate. Here's a look at the worst:

                          Jonathan Sanchez (San Francisco Giants)

The Giants are just 4-12 in starts made by Sanchez, who threw a no-hitter against San Diego on July 10 but also was removed from the rotation after four straight losses in June.

The righthander is hapless on the road, going 0-8 with a 6.33 ERA in nine winless starts. Despite pitching just twice as a favorite, he has cost $746 to back this season.

Also I must be nuts but I went with Oakland
Paying 4.10 to the dollar looks like good money to me though
given the way Oakland has been beating the ball.

Jonathon Sanchez is a dumpster fire on the road, the Giants are home tonight though, and 34-15 there this season to date. They are a different team when taking the field in SF. Thats why the Phillies, a vastly superior team with Sanchez starting for SF, are only a slight favorite. I'd say the line is fair, I would tread lightly.

Thanks smitch I haven't bought the last ticket yet as I do the late plays just before game time.
I am going with my gut though and am about 90% phils right now so lets see what happens. We can only hope the bats come alive
