All a manager has to be anymore is relatable and understand the game of baseball. Ross marks both boxes. It’s a good hire.

Nearly all those managers suck, matheny was one of the dumbest managers ive seen.

Plus, Hinch won a World Series. Boone now has 2 consecutive 100 win seasons. Results are mixed, naturally, but the point is that hiring a younger former player manager with no experience is really not that unusual any more.

Boone and hinch have loaded rosters, neither team is good because of the manager. Hinch pitching Verlander on 3 days rest as garbage.
