    Late Opening Line
Why do some games not have an opening line until well after the others? For example 14 of the 15 games for Sunday had lines posted early in the evening. But the DBacks/Cards game still does not have a line. This is the second night in a row where the Dbacks/Cards did not have an overnight line.
Are there any particular reasons why some games will not have an overnight line?

I think it is due to starting pitcher not being set in stone...here is what I see on SI for that one.

It seems that RLs and O/Us on the Cubs when they play at Wrigley are never posted until the morning. This is due to the wind blowing in or blowing out at game time, I believe.

It has everything to do with the starting pitcher(s) not being 100% known, as the betting line is based at least 80% on the starters.

And yes, totals at Wrigley are not set overnight due to the wind factor, as the park plays like two different stadiums depending on whether the wind is blowing in or out.

Finalisation of teams and in particular nominated pitcher. Wasn't aware of the wind being a factor. Interesting.

Well, overnight lines are set all the time with the lineups unknown, so it is all about the starting pitchers.

And the Wind Factor is a Wrigley phenomenon only, it has virtually no impact on totals in other stadiums.
