From somebody that religiously follows baseball, the simple fact is that the NL is a complete trash league. The disparity between the AL and NL has never been bigger. Middling players instantly improve when they go to the NL and NL stars instantly become average in the AL. It's been that way for a decade or more. The Dodgers would struggle to be a .500 team in the AL. This is akin to Alabama facing off against the Pac-12 champion in NCAA Football.
