    Making $$ with MLB Totals
What's up gentlemen... Not new to SBR, but had to change names due to some issues I encountered with the original one.

Anyway, I'll reveal my previous name in due time... for now I'd like to post some totals and make everyone some $$!!

Cincinnati Reds @ St. Louis Cardinals UNDER 8.5 -113

The Reds have Volquez coming off of the DL tonight... and he could possibly be thier ACE. He doesn't give up many long-balls but has some control issues (walks). Wellemeyer is a solid starter as well.. his 5.02 ERA is a little decieving. He gets into trouble in the 5th and can't get out of it. But tonight he faces a Reds squad with quiet bats coming off of a sweep to Milwaukee. The Cards offense has been a bit quiet as well only averaging 3.4 runs while dropping 4 of 7. Looking at a low scoring affair in St. Louis.

I like the Reds under tonight as well. I've been working on sharpening my handicapping, and focusing exclusively on unders for the past week. It's going pretty well so far. I am trying to play 1 or 2 a day max. That Reds play was probably my second favorite under lean on the day. In the end I went with the COL/HOU game though. I just don't know if I trust Wellemeyer and Volquez is not getting enough ground balls by my reading of late for this to make my cut. But it's a solid pick, imo.

      Good luck.

the orioles/mariners over 8.5 is the strongest play that I see tonite. THe last 7 games that washburn has pitched against the orioles, the game has gone over the total. In those 7 games, the lowest scoring game was 7-4 mariners in 2006. All the other games had much higher totals. THe orioles were shutout yesterday just for the 2nd time this season. THe orioles scored 12 runs after the first time they were shutout. I also do not think the mariner bullpen is that great. YEsterday, Aadesma blew a save for the first time this season. He pitched in all 3 games over the weekend against the angels. He saved the first 2 games of that series but got roughed up yesterday for 3 runs in 2/3 of an inning as he took the loss. I doubt he will available tonite. Mariner's setup pitcher, Miguel Bautista, has very poor stats against the orioles. He is 0-4 with a 7.76 era, 1.95 qhip and .311 BA. Rich Hill is more of an emergency starter, relief pitcher and he is capable of going 5-6 innings if that. I like the over in this game because the mariner bullpen is overworked from the series against the angels and the orioles bullpen is not that solid.

Wow - Volquez lasted all of 1 inning. I was beside myself for about an hour. Just didn't see that coming. Nevertheless, the Under held up and that's all that matters.

I did not like the movement on the Balt/Sea Over so I stayed away. Turns out the Under was the call.

Let's see what's in store for tonight!

you listed both as leans, never saying you place a bet on either. Even showing odds on both...Then after the games are you saying you bet the winner and passed on the loser?

Hey G's, I clearly stated that I was watching the movement and that I would add a write-up IF I was going to make a play. I don't have to prove anything to you.... If you are interested keep an eye on the thread.

Sorry to anyone else for any confusion but if you look at the "unedited" post above you'll see I said I was watching it...

Are you the SBR thread Police??? My write-up indicated a play... I said I'd add a write-up to the second "IF I LIKED WHAT I SAW". Why don't you keep playing your huge ML MLB plays and leave my thread alone.

If I made the play I'd be 1-1 ... do you think I'd be in any way embarrased about that? Whenever I remember I'll use my spreadsheet to avoid agruments like this in the future. But it's sad that you have nothing better to do.

I started this thread to keep track of my totals and open some eyes around here. NOT to go back and forth with an amatuer.

Your picks time stamped before the games will show your skill! I might be an amateur, but I will take my 19-4 record of time stamped picks before the games starts... But you being a "pro"...I am sure you will be much better than the 80% I have hit...will be watching the "pro" for results...will stop back after you have posted 20 picks before the games start unedited bye!.. He is just making sure everyone is honest Joe don't take it personal... As much as it can be annoying you have to respect the guy for just asking that people be HONEST and not try to twist stuff around... No one is here to make fun of anyone or talk shit if they post losers, we are all here to make money, I think its fair to say that we all just ask that you don't try to misrepresent picks or anything like that and just be straight forward.

Thanks major... I have no problem with keeping people honest. The issue I have is with the manner G has chosen to address it.

G... haha Thanks for the challenge but the fact that you have hit 80% over 20 picks means absolutely nothing. You are foolish to think otherwise. Feel free to watch my plays all you want! I may not start out 80% like you but I'll be up at the end of the season my friend.

What's your deal anyway? I think it's hilarious that you have no idea who I am - you see one post and have a grudge. Why is that? If I was boasting about some huge LOCK that I won and it was posted late or something I could totally see that.

Last response...seriously...first of all thank you themajormt... it is exactly what you said! Joe Sharp. remember if you post picks, some will follow. So leans are one thing and saying you bet one and not the other after the fact is another.

And I agree with you 110%! <(I know that is more than 100%) I do realize I went on one hell of a run that cannot last and that is why I am trying the system... I realize in the system there will be losses, wins, and even the occasional push once in a while. I spent way to much time trying to cap winners, with the system still under experiment with different filters I expect rough patches...and not exactly sure what I will need to do to make it a success...as themajormt mentioned so people can win a few bucks from it...that is the idea... So for now fine tuning... I actually hope you win that is the idea here! To many frustrated people on this forum... The experiment will only involve money I am up from my own 23 picks..so no loss...hopefully will turn it into something people can try once in a while... So ring the register with your picks and get some cash...GL G.

Boston Red Sox @ Detroit Tigers UNDER 9.5 -110

Before sunday the Sox only scored 13 runs in 5 games. Tito mixed up the line-up and got 8 runs out of them... however after a day off they have to face a very hot pitcher in Porcello for the very first time. They are sure to start of slow. Dice K has not been very impressive at all but NOTHING went well for him his last time out. He had 4 wild pitches while working with back-up catcher Kottaras. He will look to improve and will be a lot more comfortable working with Varitek.

Under is 6-0 in Tigers last 6 home games.
Under is 6-0-1 in Matsuzakas last 7 road starts with the total set at 9.0-10.5.

Nice win with the Under last night in detroit. I like a few totals on the board tonight already. There are a few teams with big line-ups that haven't produced recently and they will explode sooner or later. I played a ton of Unders in May... Let's see if the trend continues.

Milwaukee Brewers @ Florida Marlins UNDER 9 +100

Both starters are coming off of impressive 7 inning outings allowing a total of 3 runs between them. The previous 2 games in this series did go OVER due to one huge inning in each case where the Marlins scored 5 runs. I don't see Looper having that kind of inning here. The other issue in those 2 OVERS was that out of the 4 starters... each pitched an average of 4 innings. Both West and Looper are capable of going 6+ strong innings tonight.... Let's hope the bats slow down in FLA.

Cleveland Indians @ Minnesota Twins UNDER 8.5 -105

Cliff Lee has a record of 2-6 with a 3.16 ERA however after his first 2 starts of the season his ERA is 2.11 over 9 games. The main reason for a weak record: Lack of Run Support (average of 3.04). If Lee can quiet the bat of Mauer we'll be in good shape. The wild card for me is Anthony Swarzak. He has looked great with a 2.08 ERA but does not have a large sample to go on. Minnesota pitchers though, have also fallen victim to Lack of Run Support ... so let's look to a low scoring affair in Minny.
