    Contrarian Radar

The contrarian radar goes blinking on the Atlanta Braves. Scherzer for the D'Backs has been blazing lately. Medlen, the new comer was given a few innings in his first start, showed decently in his second, and now is ready for the breakout start. Cox has been bringing him along as a young thoroughbred ready for the longshot race with instructions to go to the whip hard. Talking about WHIP, the 1.6 for Medlen is a nice showing for a newbie. D'Backs are an average team, this price is too attractive.

I am not pulling the trigger yet, want to see where this number goes.

        Re: Medlen

That WHIP is inflated as well. This kid was 5-0 with a 1.20 ERA in AAA. He's a control pitcher, too. Walked about 2 every 9 innings in the minors. The number is inflated because his first outing he just lost it in the 4th inning and started throwing balls to the backstop. He walked 3 and hit a batter without getting a single man out. So that was 4 uncharacteristic men on base in a 3 inning stint. That'll inflate your number when you've only had 2 starts. Look for that WHIP to fall dramatically over his next few.

Solid pick 5's. I like the under a little more in this one, but you know I'll be rooting for the Braves.

Thanks for the added info. Medlen's numbers, as you pointed out, are disguised. Off to personal matters, talk later.

              Selection

I just found a contrarian setup that merits a play, MIN/TAM. The 8.5 ERA is established by the linesmaker. Minnie is under last 5, Rays are under last 3. Combined game ERA is 7.1 and home plate umpire Hoye is 2-8 to the under bias. And to add the insult to the injury, you have to lay money on the Overs. All info pointing to Under.

                    It's Official

The Contrarians start off with a loss in the total play on the MIN/TAM game. Three more to go today. Things are a little dicy.

                          It's Official

The Reds could not get out of their own way to go down in defeat to the Brewers on the road.

                          Reds +175 (L)

The Zach Attack got overplayed by the squares today as the Royals, who are not as good as they were at the start of the season, imploded in the top of the ninth. Chisox were nice!

                          White Sox +155 (W)

The Braves put a whoop ass on Scherzer, as Medlen pitched 6 innings, giving up one earned run. Scherzer was do for a shaky one as the contrarian were all over this one at a punch and a half.

                          Braves +145 (W)

The best team in baseball is +135. Contrarian Mr. Lock. Are you discouraged? Less than 10 minutes to see if you have the contrarian fortitude going for you. In the words of Heart Attack Dan, "If the Cubs win, I'll never bet again."
