The Oakland Athletics on Saturday shipped third baseman Trevor Plouffe and cash to the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for either cash considerations or a player to be named later, the A’s announced. The newly-acquired Plouffe will join his club on Monday while pitcher Matt Andriese will shift to the 60-day disabled list to create space on the 40-man roster, according to Mark Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times.
