players don't get it. 3 consecutive Singles screws up a pitcher's head MUCH more than a homerun.

a homerun is easier to recover from. but 3 singles, and the confidence for the day is shot
for the most part, pitchers start to unravel

actually not..

if they played small ball, they could have won in 9 innings with 7 runs.
they eked out a win:

1) in 11 Innings (burned relievers for tomorrow)
2) over a crap team
3) at HOME.

80% of other teams score more than 2 Runs tonite and beat the Orioles in Regulation.

they got lucky, but Trumbo chased that 44th Homerun for 4 games.
that chase cost them games.

Orioles just lost 4 games straight AT HOME to Boston. 2 of those were very winnable
by situational hitting.
