Why Do The Cubs Even Let Jason Hayward Play?
Guy is a guaranteed out. Cubs set the table beautifully for him, work the pitcher, increase the pitch count, get walks, a sac fly, men on the corners, Hayward shuffles up to the plate and takes three straight swings at garbage balls in the dirt.

Seriously.. why the fukk do the Cubs even have this guy on the team? Outfielders are a dime a dozen.

    Omega you are absolutely correct.
I can't stand it when the cubbies have
Guys in scoring position and Hayward comes
To the plate. They should bench him.

Bases loaded at the corners, Russell & the Cubs get screwed out of a run by the ball hopping the fence.

Here comes Hayward. Will he take some pitches? Try to increase the pitch count? Be patient?

          One pitch.

A weak, pathetic pop up to the infield.

Cant get get more efficient than that!!

Because they pay him so damn much. Can't pay him to keep the bench warm.

Theres many more than just you guys completely frustrated by Jason Heyward.

As JoeDad put it: "I can't stand it when the cubbies have Guys in scoring position and Hayward comes
                  To the plate."

He has failed me more times than any other guy and even several other guys combined.

Heyward got the massive Payday then cannot get anything done, is completely unable to give anything in return for all that money.

Terribly Sad, terribly sad and especially for guys with Cubs Bets. Yeah, these often still work out but having to endure Automatic-Out Heyward is painful.

He is having one of the worst offensive years a player can have. He sucks.

Like his offense or not his defense is the best at his position in mlb. Despite his terrible batting numbers he still has a positive WAR over 1. He is a guy you will want in RF in the playoffs in the 8th inning of a 1 run game with everything on the line. I do think that we may see him subbed out for Soler if the Cubs need a few runs late, but Maddon will be more than willing to give up a few outs at the plate for his glove and arm. That said he should be batting 8th. Hopefully the 4 days he had off working with Malee, they found some holes and figured out how to fix them. But either way, expect to see him in October.

They are winning in spite of him. He is DEAD weight. And he will end up costing them in a big game if they don't bench him for the remainder of the season.

I went cold for a while and had to get back in the zone. They're not everyday plays anyways, but I'll see what I can do in the future.

Still elite defensively. And why wouldn't you play him? You're guaranteed to win the division. If he ever finds his bat before the playoffs that's a huge bonus

Tigers have won the last 4 starts for Boyd, and Tigers do well against Duffy.
Lately I like any team against Bum, Cueto and Samardzija. When San Fran is on the road. I wouldnt bet it myself but the odd are in your favour

But now I feel Boston on ml would be the best play

Why not play him? They did give him an entire weekend off and he hit a HR afterwards

none of these games matter for the cubs

let hm work it out and hope he gets right by the playoffs

it's a luxury they can afford

meanwhile I'm sure the pitchers love having his glove behind them

Insane game, reminded me of the Mariners one where the reliever threw the wild pitch to tie it. This team is something special.

I'm gonna add Xander Bogaerts to this thread. I don't care that his average is .300; guy is a disappointment every time I see him. Automatic out. Red Sox in a tight game, men on the corners, 0-0 game, Xander ambles up to the plate. A couple terrible swings and a flaccid pop up. Send this schmuck back to the minors.

P.S. And yes, I know Heyward played well today. It's a start, but we'll need to see more.

He had a pretty good August too. Not an elite offensive player, but been more competent as of late. Would be huge if he keeps it up.
