News: Syndergaard will not need surgery to address the bone spur in his elbow, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. (Tue Jun 28)
Spin: Syndergaard initially denied having any issues with his throwing elbow, but the team has since confirmed that he is, indeed, battling a small bone spur, which GM Sandy Alderson called "really insignificant." The expectation is that Syndergaard will be able to pitch through the issue, but it's certainly something to keep an eye over his next handful of starts. The right-hander is coming off of his worst outing of the season Monday against the Nationals, in which he allowed five earned runs on seven hits to go with three walks over just 3.0 innings.
