1) playing in the Wild Card game is a qualifying game to determine if a team is good enough
to make the playoffs. They were shut-out at home. That is not the playoffs.
Playoffs means that you played in a series
2) Hart Trophy Winner, and Vezina winner was out for 5 months.
not much you can do when the best player in hockey and the best goalie
is gone, for 75% of a season.

1. The Rangers lost Lundqvist for months last year, and they won the Presidents trophy. Habs embarrassed the entire city this season. Philly is going to make the playoffs with Steve Mason.
2. The MLB wild card game, while incredibly unnecessary, is definitely a part of MLB Playoffs. Under the old rules, the 2015 Yankees would have competed for a 5 game series as they finished with a better record than Houston.

1. LOL.. you can't compare Lundqvist to Price
2. Wildcard game is AN AUDITION for the Playoffs.. not "MLB Playoffs"
as in "playoff series"... in that audition, Yanks failed to score a single Run...
scratch that. the $217 MILLION YANKEES failed to score a run at HOME vs. the $70 million Houston Astros
more than 3X the payroll.... not a SINGLE RUN

From MLB.com
The top two Wild Card teams from each league make the postseason and play each other in a one-game playoff. If two or more teams are tied for their division lead, they will be listed among the Wild Card teams below.
You'll notice how it says they made the postseason.

If Price is the guy that carries the team, and they are bottomfeeders without him, then what are they paying Subban for? Or Patches.

when Price is in they are an elite team.. they all have to be on together..
Lundqvist will never win a CUP.. Massive playoff choker.
Kreider understands that , that is why he took Price out in the first game in 2014.
Rangers had no chance with Price in net.
So if Price is injured, they go from elite to the draft lottery? I think you'll find that elite teams have the foundation to keep winning though injuries. Lundqvist never choked as bad as when Price let in that Tyler Johnson goal last May.

Lundqvist himself agrees that Carey Price is his superior:
His superior? He said Price was probably the best goalie right now and that he was coming off a Vezina winning season. Also, the article is 6 months old. Where is Price right now? Price, who is sub .500 in the SC playoffs and got embarrassed by the Lightning last spring.
Lundqvist has already punched his ticket through the HOF. Price is 6 years younger with a very long road ahead of him. You're comparing him to the wrong player.

this is the Olympics man...
i mean, you gotta be kidding me.. go and watch these goals.
then come back..
Price let in 1 goal for the entire elimination portion of the Olympics..
Record in Olympics 5-0
Price ended the tournament undefeated in five games with a 0.59 GAA and .971 save percentage, and was named the tournament's best goaltender by the International Ice Hockey Federation

Team Canada defense was stacked. Keith, Weber, Subban, Vlasic, Pietrangelo, Doughty. Price wasn't tested in either of those elimination games. At all.
It's a huge credit to Lundqvist that Sweden even appeared in the medal game.

You are a typical miserable piece of shit Canadian. I guess i would be too if i lived in a good for nothing country, where hockey is all you have in life, yet in the greatest league in the world, your teams have been afterthoughts for 3 decades...

Ummmm.... if you are trying to insult the Canadian franchises in NHL that's pretty ridiculous. All the Canadian teams actually make money unlike the shit franchises south of the border. Additionally, name a team in the last 5 years that has won the cup and wasn't stacked with Canadians. You just come off as extremely ignorant man. I can make generalizations about your country too don't worry, but I won't. Sometimes class is required on this thing we call the internet, try it.

Agree...Yankees are not in the same class as the rest of their division. Jays and Orioles are very strong and Sox are much improved. Yankees are a bunch of 35+ year olds...they will score some runs...but won't make playoffs!

gona have to agree with Ratzz.. Making it to the 1 game play-in game is not considered making the playoffs. Yes, I understand it is TECHNICALLY considered making the playoffs, but if my favorite team made it to the 1 game play-in game and lost, I would not consider that "making the playoffs" regardless of technicalities.

Trump people are stupid an scary, lowest IQs of all US voters.
every team that has ever won a Stanley Cup, was comprised mostly of Canadian players. Every last one.
League is still 50% Canadian, 2-to-1 over US players.. and 25% making up rest of World

i agree 100%, especially if:
1) they had a payroll over 3X the opposing team ($217M vs. $70M)
2) played at Yankee Stadium,
3) and failed to even score a SINGLE Run, i think they did not even reach 3rd Base
