    Mets Vs Royals
Harvey not a good spring, 7.50 era... Mets 33-21 on opening day which is the best in baseball, but Harvey is in for a short outing and will probably be spelled by Colon, Mets with 3 off days before their 3rd game so they'll probably get Colon & Matz in during the 2 games against the Royals. Harvey is a headcase, I don't see him being able to flip a switch and figure it out Sunday night. Royals at home celebrating their championship...

    KC 1st 5 +103
    KC ML +109

Game 2, Thor is looking good, Ian Kennedy is Ian Kennedy with his stupid contract and average stuff, might get rocked if he even plays, probably get bumped for a bum hammy. Mets & Royals split.

You are making an argument for Harvey to have a bad outing in the season opener because of his pre season numbers?

The whole team lost 14 spring training games, in a row.

Harvey is on the way down. Get the good numbers while they're still offering em.

The MLB pre season means as much as NFL pre season games, nothing. Harvey is on his way down, give me a break

Mets could lose today but it isn't going to have anything to do with what happened in meaningless games played in a cracker jack box stadium in March. If you are capping games on what happened before the regular season then I don't know what to tell you.

I don't but lots of stock into preseason, but 14 games in a row is probably an almost historic amount of losing, and it's not nothing. Harvey has too many extrenal distractions going on right now. I don't doubt his talent, but I wouldn't have made him a favorite on the road against a good lineup. Also, the Mets bullpen doesn't match up favorably today. Even if it's only 10 cents worth of value, it's worth a small shot.

You laugh but preseason does effect the start of regular season. Preseason has no effect on the entire season but yes start of the season it very much does matter. I 100% agree OP analysis of this game. I also took the over in this game.

LOL pre-season means nothing, especially for pitchers who care about getting their mechanics down and do not worry about results in spring training. Now Harvey can very well lose tonight to a great Royals team tonight but it has nothing to do with his spring training performance. He has still been throwing upper 90s fastball and looks to have that pre TJ Surgery nasty slider back that he didn't have last season. We shall see. Either way ST numbers mean absolutely nothing.

You still want to eventually get somebody OUT in Spring Training, you're not just throwing BP. Don't pretend like these guys are up there just trying to get the ball over the plate and making sure their arm angle is correct.

Tradition Field is not a cracker jack box stadium, the wind blew in all spring and the dimensions are legit. He got shelled in a minor league outing and now he's facing the defending Champs. This isn't some seasoned vet we're talking about, like Colon who traditionally has terrible springs. It's a guy coming off the most innings he's ever pitched in a year following a lost year to Tommy John. So yeah, I think there's enough info available to cap this and if you want to ignore all of that and say I'm basing it on a 7.50 era in spring, that's fine.

That being said, I'm a Mets fan so I hope I'm wrong. I just follow them enough to feel like that I know how it's going to play out.

Mets should have tried to make the same trade with Dbacks as Atlanta did.
