The Yankees were clearly the play. The Yankees have a very talented lineup and were going up against a struggling pitcher.

The Yankees is the wrong call on that game, and a VERY public wager. CC Sabathia is horrid with the big chalk, which means that he is not a pressure pitcher. This is a pressure situation. He will get rocked early and often. Never play games where a pitcher is over valued. It is the quickest way to lose a small fortune.

It's attitudes like the ones in this thread, backing the Yankees "just because" that add so much value to games this today's for the rest of us. The more people that bet on the Yankees in big games, the more likely we are to get inflated the lines get for the dogs... It was the same situation on April 5th when there was a big swing supporting the Phillies in their home opener as WS champions, and people believed that here was no way the Phillies could not win that game... And the rest of us made money.
