Mets close to acquiring Carlos Gomez

Could be a huge get for the Mets, who no doubt have an eye to the division now just 1 game out. Lagares would probably be dealt, and wouldn't be surprised if Zach Wheeler goes too.

As a Met fan nice to see ownership and Sandy going for it, if they do indeed work it out.

Gomez would be a perfect fit because he's under control next year too. I'm hearing Wilmer Flores in the deal too

Still have a pro hitter and great 3B Uribe on the bench, plenty of combinations for playing Murphy at 2B and Uribe at 3B resting Johnson.. when Cuddyer comes off the DL, he could platoon in LF or 1B, but Duda has been hitting lately.

And if Wright comes back and can hit.. look out

If they get Gomez everyone needs to look into Mets futures. If they sneak into the playoffs you have DeGrom, Harvey, and Syndegaard pitching, a stud closer, and finally some bats... they could surprise.

Wow, figured Lagares was a key component in that deal. Good deal for both sides though, Milwaukee gets Wilmer Flores who has shown some ability and pop, and a big question mark but top of the rotation potential for years to come in Wheeler.

Mets get the perfect 'win now' guy making a very reasonable $9M next year.. highly doubt they will resign him after next year, but Wheeler was expendable with the emergence of the other guys, Matz especially.
