    MLB Season Thread

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE. IF TIME ALLOWS I WILL HAVE A FEW WRITE-UPS WITH SOME OF THE PLAYS.

When a selection on a game is made i am not necessarily saying i like that team to win the game. With my selections i feel the price is off by at least 10-20 cents or more. I could very well be giving out a team that i think will lose, but whose current price still warrants a play. That is what is so unique about baseball compared to other sports as it doesnt matter who you think is gonna win it only matters what you think the price should be as i stated before about lines and what i think they should be compared to what they are.
Again its not your win% in baseball that matters its your units won.

    APRIL 12th 2009

San Francisco Giants @ San Diego Padres

    PLAY:SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS -125 (To win 1unit)
Tim Lincecum has absolutely dominated the Padres in his short career. He is 3-1 with a 0.95 ERA against the Padres. His team's record is 7-1 in all starts against the Padres. His last 3 starts he has allowed a total of 1 run in 24 innings pitched. His last two starts were both 4 hit shutouts one of them being a complete game the other he went 8 innings. Those are dominant numbers. Young in his career against the Giants is 1-4 with a 4.03 ERA. He has lost his last 3 starts against the Giants and his most recent two losses have been opposite of Lincecum.

Los Angeles Dodgers @ Arizona Diamondbacks

    PLAY:LOS ANGELES DODGERS +135 (1unit)
Big value play here on the Dodgers... Much of the matchup is a wash here with similar numbers all around. I think the line is skewed too much for Haren though giving the Dodgers a ton of value. Wolf in his career against the DBacks is 6-3 with a 4.62 ERA. His team's record is 8-4 in those starts. Haren is 3-3 with a 4.54 ERA. More importantly he has lost his last two outings against the Dodgers. In those two starts he has gone a total of only 10 innings and given up 10 runs on 16 total hits.

If I have anymore plays I will post them but that is it for now.

i agree with your approach schaap, though im more of a weighted gambler when it comes to all sports betting, and dont really focus that much on the moneyline in baseball. my main rule of thumb is to never play a ML >150, and if i do love a game of a fav >150, i'll go to the run line. couldnt agree more about having multiple books, and shopping for the best line regardless of how small the difference is.

question though, you said that if the line was even a few cents too much in one direction, you would go the other way. you seem to have gotten a really bad line on Lincecum at $1.25. His closing line on avg was around $1.18, and i got down earlier today at $1.10. Did you just feel strongly on the play (as i did) thus disregarding your theory of staying away from bad lines?

i hope we can put fri/sat behind us and move on - we both have a lot to offer this board, and i simply didnt like the way you trash talked before the braves/nats game fri. i'm not here to get into internet fights with people, so i would like to be able to chat sports with you, being that we are both regular visitors to sbr.

It's impossible to lay money with the Pirates no matter who they're facing. Moehler looked good until getting ruffed up in last start. Duke is a terrible pitcher in my mind. The Stro's have a better line up than Pitt and i believe they will get it going today.

On a different note i love the Sox today and hopefully they can get the game in before the rain starts, if it hasnt already. I believe the forecast calls for rain.

Good start by the "Good Guys". Lets see if we can get to the 5th with lead b4 the rain hits.

Well, so far the sox are looking good. Suprised they didnt get a more quality start from their pitching staff. Houston hasnt broke out so far yet but theres alot of game left and nice start for the Nationals at home. Looks like the Cubs could be waiting a while to start their game. Possibly more plays later.
