Jason Hammel is underrated very much. Guy gets things done this season. Cubs lineup over Reds lineup (in its current form and with its current players) anyday of the week. Additionally Reds pen really bad. Have capped the game at about 45% Reds and 55% Cubs.

Seems odd to me as well...I know cubs pen isn't really much better... I would take combo votto and Frazier over bryant and rizzo as of right now..maybe not after all star break but hamilton can steal and Phillips and bruce can occasionally Come up with big hit. I have research the game yet not sure how cueto fairs at wrigley..that could be good indication of the line.

After looking the line looks about right. Hammel has done well at wrigley (home) he has been solid lately and cueto has been hit on road and exceeds at home...since last 3 yr he has 2.42 era and let's say reds score 2-4 runs..I can see this game decided in innings 7-9. I'm sure this will be 1 run game but not sure to who? Rizzo is 2-18 against cueto and bryant hasnt faced him. Coughlan has been hot lately and has hit cueto 4-14.. not too bad.. this game is toss-up

In 13 career starts at Wrigley, Cueto is 5-5 with an era of a little over 3. Last year he had control issues (walked 5) and got rocked for 6 runs in 5 innings. The Cubs pen, while not good, is still much better than the Reds. I think this a toss up game because of the weak hitting lineup Cincy is running out there right now.

I wouldn't touch this game.. many other good ones to look at. The o/u is a toss up..it may be a 3-2 game until late..then one of the bullpens may collaspe..don't trust either team when starters leave.

Cueto is/was an underdog today, albeit slight, because:

                    1. Hammel has been a SLIGHTLY better pitcher thus far this season, with a better SIERA, FIP, xFIP, k%, and walk %, while ranking almost exactly equal in opponent BA.

                    2. The Cubs pen has been far superior than the Reds this year.

                    3. That being said, a slight edge to the Reds lineup and fielding is not enough to have them as a favorite. I rated this game at about -115/+115 in favor of Chicago.

Just as an aside, it's kind of funny how the Cubs have one of the worst strike out % in baseball, while also having one of the best walk %s
