Making picks public for the first time makes a lot of people bet different than before. I have experienced that multiple times on myself and others. I don't know why that is, but it's really not that uncommon. It seems like one wants to be smarter than before, sees things which he hasn't seen before and takes things heavily into account, which he hasn't before.
