Im considering putting a play in on the Pirates today...not sure how good carpenter is going to be in his first start. My early lean was on the Cardinals, but with further research, im tempted to take the pirates with the great price. Any thoughts on this??

i THINK THAT THE PRICE OF THE PIRATES ITS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE AND CARPENTER I DONT KNOW EITHER HOW HE IS COMING BUT PROBABLY I WOULD ALSO PUT A SMALL LEAN ON THE PIRATES WITH THAT PRICE, BUT THE ONLY THING THAT SCARE ME IS THAT YESTURDAY THE CARDINALS LOSE BUT PROBABLY PIRATES REPEAT!

Yea...I just think Pirates are a bit undervalued by the bookies. They are a much better team this year, and I do not think the Cardinals are that great. I like Pittsburgh's offense better than the Cards this year. Its just going to come down to pitching in this game, and I think Olendorf will have a good outing...

Im considering playing the over in the texas/detroit game. I dont like Benson at all and think he will be giving up runs to the detroit offensive bats who will be ready to go today in their home opener. Also, detroit's bullpen stinks..any ideas on this play guys?

First they have a better lineup. Home opener or not that doesnt factor in. Second you are getting + money and Detroit has shown nothing to be laying good size chalk. Third i believe Texas is the better overall team and Detroit will be as bad as they were last year. What is a good reason to lay -150 with the Tigers and -1.5 for that matter. Never lay -1.5 against a good hitting high scoring team.

1. Tigers playing in their home opener
2. Kris Benson is awful..trust me, when he was with the Pirates he was the one pitcher we all chalked up as a loss before he even got on the mound.
3. Tigers offensive lineup has not clicked on all cylinders yet, but when they do, they are in a different league than the Texans. I see them starting to click today in the home opener.
4. Jim Leyland is a better manager and will have this team prepped and ready to go today.

well, i may not like the tigers -1.5 but opening day always has the fans in to the game and the players are usually more excited to play for the home crowd. also, check the game time forecast and winds up to 30mph.

so chick i think i like your lean on the over.

Ok..Ill buy that but to be guessing when a lineup will start clicking will cost you cash. The home opener doesnt matter to me. Benson has shown positive starts in the past. The manager doesnt matter to me. And by the way...is the Tigers starter worth laying big chalk? The Rangers has shown a excellent hitting lineup so far and that wont stop against a Tiger pitcher who is also mediocre thus the total is 10.
