Rumors swirling tonight about Torre will be fired in the next few days, after that loss to the Tigers.

Thats what I just heard. And Lou Pinella will replace him as manager.

Yep, Thats is what they are saying in one of the NY papers in there sunday edition.

The sick part is that I don't blame Torre for this collapse at all though. The players just didn't step up when it counted.

What could Torre do with that poor pitching? You can only do so much with it. They needed to add pitching, not bats. Plus the hitters didnt come through at all for them in the ALDS. But that was because of the great Tigers pitching.

But we all know the managers catch the blame no matter what.

Torre is pure class and the only reason I care one little bit about the Yankees.

By the way, are these the same NYC papers that have predicted Roger Clemens was going to be traded to the Yankees or Red Sox both of the last two years?

I would think that to be a shame about Torre. But is anyone really surprised?

Steinbrenner will find a scapegoat almost everytime. I guess Joe is it this time. I wonder how long Pinella will last.

You just can't buy championships in baseball. As great the names on this Yankee team were, virtually any team can blow a 5 game playoff.

And let this be a lesson to all. The next time you read the phrase, "The New York Daily News is reporting...", take that section of your newspaper and use it to line your birdcage.

it's offical Torre is staying with the Yankees. I think would have been one of the bosses biggest mistakes he ever made if he actually fired him.
