In the 6th inning or so (I think -- memory is foggy), Denard Span hit a ball into the gap for Washington. The Upton brothers "chased it down." Rolled all the way to the wall as both BJ and Justin gave next to zero effort trying to get to it. Span turned a double into a triple. He didn't score, but I sat there thinking, if there's ever a play that defines the Upton brothers' sorry, pathetic careers -- especially BJ, who, relatively speaking, is arguably the worst player in baseball -- it was that.

Didn't watch it but you are right about BJ Upton being the worst player in baseball. With the addition of Bonifacio, there is no need to play BJ Upton.....at all.

Upton is completely and utterly useless. Not only in his execution, but his effort. He plays like he doesn't want to play. Guy is in the middle of a 5-year, $75 million, Ryan Leaf-esque contract.

Look at BJU's career stats. I dare you.

It is absurd that he makes anything more than a million or two a year. What a contract. He should wear a ski mask to games. Completely robbing the Braves blind.

It's mind boggling considering he put together two pretty good seasons in 07/08

He's like Carl Crawford. Had a few decent years, was a "5 tool" prospect, got paid, turned into a piece of shit.

            Guaranteed contracts are ruining baseball.

I actually think that would be a show of good faith on BJU's part. Only makes sense -- kind of a way to apologize to the fans for being the equivalent of a felonious thief.

The Braves are taking your advice today.

Guaranteed contracts or the losers who hand them out?

This should have been a much higher scoring game

Both the Nats and the Braves left a lot of runs on base. What the hell is wrong with these supposed professional athletes? Good grief!

Hit the RL so I am happy. Dude could have cost a run though.

Both teams in bottom third of MLB in AVG w/ RISP. Not out of the ordinary, what we saw last night.
