Heads up Scoreless 1st innings are back
    hey guys...

i started a thread in the beginning of the season last year, and then had to abandon it, it started getting a bit of a following..... not sure if any of that crew is still around, and most bases sharps would probably poo poo this system, but i will be starting up my scoreless 1st inning thread again for opening day, except i added a new twist to it for this year it's basically laying 3 to 1 odds that a run wont be scored in the top half of the first, my goal is using this each day of the season when a particularly good pitcher with 1st inning stats to back him is at home and facing a particularly mediocre line-up

ive done some loose tracking over the past few seasons and it appears that runs in the top half of the first only occur roughly 1 in evey 4.5 games.... so my theory is that there could be a slight edge in this approach we will see.... i plan on bumping this thread for opening day and start tracking the stats capping the match ups and posting the plays for all those interested that want to join in on this thread and hash out the system....

GL to all this coming season

      Hey Stingy Rivers,

I did some heavy research myself on 1st inning runs being scored. A run scored in the 1st inning almost 53% of the time last year. It's actually more probable that a run will score in the 1st inning then not.

My numbers from last year from May 1st. till the end of the playoffs:

        1st. innings when a run was scored: 1,100 (53.84 %)
1st. innings when a run was not scored: 943
        Total games: 2,043

However I didn't brake it down to wether it was at the top or bottom of the inning. And this was for all games, with no consideration of starting home pitcher or which team he was facing.

Very interesting idea...they let you bet if a team scores in the first inning?
