That's pretty much all it comes down to -- whether or not you can get the clutch two-out hits, and whether or not your pitchers can avoid giving them up.

Watching this StL/NYM game is a perfect example. Or PIT/CIN. Or CHW/SF. Examples all over the board, like every night.

The more baseball I watch through the years, the more this rings true.

Look at Boston today. Nine hits through 5 innings, yet they're down 2-1 because they can't get a two-out hit.

Royals last night. Out-hit the Tigers 11-5, lost 2-1 because they couldn't get a two-out hit.

It doesn't go much beyond this, folks.

So right on this Coin nothing worse than backing a team who is losing 4-2 but outhit the opposition say 11-7. Happens time and time again teams get so many on base but fail when it counts. Clutch hitting and pitching with 2 out and risp is the key to winning or losing alot of the time.

Can't get hits AFTER putting 2 men on, regardless of outs. Twice with 2 men on 0 out (1st 3rd, 1st 2nd) and without a run. Can't bunt either.
