Taking a look at some late action... Although the Rockies blew a 4 run lead last night, they have Nicasio going tonight. He's pitched alright thus far. A 1-0 record with a 3.75 ERA in 12 IP and 12 Strike outs. He got a no decision against the White Sox, where he gave up 4 runs, and struck out six. His first start this season was against the DBacks, who aren't all that great swinging the bat. As a team, the Padres are batting .253 against him, with Headley having the best stats against him. He goes up against 2nd year pitcher Robbie Erlin, who hasn't faced anyone on the Rockies team. Cuddyer is in the lineup, and I think the Rockies grab the W tonight..

          Rockies ML -107 looks good..

          Anyone else thinking the same?

Also, O/U in the Dodgers/Giants game is at 8.. Seems awfully low for 2 pitchers who can give up a ton of runs.. I'm thinking the over here..

Just took a look at the Pirates - Reds matchup. The Pirates are batting under .200 against Cueto, which isn't promising for Liriano's offense. Liriano also hasn't been all that bad this season, pitching 6 innings in all three outings. My lean is for the Reds to get the W here, behind Cueto, who when he's on, he's fantastic. Taking them at -111 ML seems like good value here. I was hoping the O/U was higher, but at 6.5 it makes me nervous. Although I think both offenses will slow down tonight with two pitchers who can silence the bats, all it takes is a bad inning from the bullpen. The line for the Reds was at -117, but has just dropped to -111..

                        Rays @ Orioles

Odorizzi vs Gonzalez. Both have an alarming ERA, but after losing 7-1 in the opening game of this series, the Rays are not swinging the bat well. They have 8 runs in their last 4 games away from the Trop. On their travels this year, they've given up 26 runs and have scored 19. Putting them at an avg of 3.7 runs against and 2.7 runs for. Gonzalez has 4 career starts agains the Rays. He has a 1-2 record against them, with a 4.18 ERA. The Rays have also batted .219 against him.

Last season, at home, Gonzalez was 7-2 in 13 starts, with a 3.48 era and he held opponents to a .240 batting average. In day games, he went 4-2 in 9 starts, with a 3.42 era, and he help opponents to a .215 batting average.

As for Odorizzi, he's already started one day game this season and got hit hard, as did Gonzalez in his first start against the Tigers. Last year, in 3 starts in day games, he posted a 6.43 era, and opponents tagged him for a .309 batting average.

The Orioles' hitters have seen very little of him, totaling 9 at bats, 2 hits and 1 walk. He's going to need for his offense to really come out of their slump, in order to have a chance of winning this game. Seeing as they haven't been putting many runs on the board, both teams are rested, I'm going to likely ride with the Orioles ML at -101 or even possibly the +1.5 in a parlay, as I think both pitchers could potentially give up runs, but I like my chances with Gonzalez.

                                        Nationals @ Marlins

I was on the Strasbourg train last night, and he got lit up early. Tonight, Fernandez vs Roark. Coming off their big offensive night, and with Fernandez on the mound, who is 11-0 at home, and has a 1.14 era in 17 starts, I just can't find a reason why I should go against the home side here. The ML is currently at -145, and I'll be all over that. But going by the numbers, Roark won't be an easy hit either. The Marlins have batted .158 against him but only 19 total at bats. This could be a low scoring affair, but after the numbers they put up last night, I'll stick with the money line here. May even take the run line in a parlay.

                                        Marlins ML for me

                                          Cubs @ Yankees (Game #2)

Yankees enter the night cap off a 4-0 victory earlier in the day. Tanaka shut down the Cubs, and tonight, I see Pineda doing the same thing. He's been impressive this season, posting a 1.50 era in two starts. He's coming off a solid performance against the Red Sox, and I just don't see the Cubs being able to put together enough offense to beat the Bronx Bombers tonight. Travis Wood also has had two good starts, despite his 0-1 record. He lost to the Phillies, and then a no decision against the Pirates, where he gave up 1 ER. The Cubs are 2-5 away from Wrigley Field, and have lost three straight. Taking the Yankees tonight, and again, the run line in this game could be a good possibility in a parlay.

The O/U 7 may also have some value here. 2nd game of a double header, could see some fatigue, which could lead to an under.

                                              Indians @ Tigers

McAllister has 2.31 era, but in his only night start of the season, he gave up three ER's in just four innings. He bounced back against the Padres, but he could be in for another difficult task tonight. Last year he went 7-7 in 18 starts in night games, posting a 3.95 ERA. He starts six day games, going 2-2 with a 3.22 ERA. Last season, he started 3 games against the Tigers, and lost two, and got a no decision in the other. A 9.00 ERA in 12 innings pitched is an alarming stat for the Indians pitcher. In 72 at bats, the Tigers are hitting McAllister with a .375 batting average. Anibal Sanchez on the other hand is 0-0, but has done well in both his starts. He gave up 2 ER's against the Orioles in his first game, and then gave up 1 ER against the Dodgers. In the month of April last year, he posted a 1.34 ERA while going 3-1 in five starts. Against the Indians, he went 2-0 in three starts and had a 2.79 ERA. The Indians have had 157 at bats against Sanchez, and are batting .261 against him.

This one could be more of a toss up than some would expect, but the Tigers are 4-1 at home, and I don't see the Indians handing them a loss tonight. Both sides are rested after yesterday's game got PPD, so fatigue won't be an issue here.

Both pitchers have been hittable. Lee has a 2-1 record, but in three starts, he only didn't concede runs to the Cubs, but they tagged him for 10 hits in 7 innings. He gave up 3 ER's against the Brew Crew who were on a streak, and 8 runs in his first game at home against the Rangers. But in 15 starts at home last season, he had a 7-5 record, with a 3.34 ERA. Day games weren't his thing, as he had a 4.13 ERA and went 1-2 in 5 starts. Against the Braves, he had a 3-2 record, with a 2.29 ERA in 5 starts, and had 1 complete game. To boot, the Braves are batting .211 against him in 228 at bats. Teheran has a 1-1 record with a 2.84 ERA, but he too has been hit hard. The Nats just got 10 hits off him 5 runs, with 2 earned. He was better at home last season, than away, and against the Phillies he went 1-1 with a 6.55 ERA.

I can't really pick a side here to win, but if I had to find some value in this game, it could be O7... Both pitchers have been giving up hits, and with a day rest and the way they swung the bat in the first game of the series, this game could go over in the first 5-6 innings.

But I will likely not touch this game, and if i had to pick a side, i'd take the Phillies just because of Lee's numbers vs Teheran's in this matchup.

The Tigers let me down last night, after they couldn't take advantage of a one out triple in the bottom of the 9th, which could have tied the game. Today, they have Justin Verlander on the mound, and their last win came with him pitching. He's pitched well this season, posting a 1-1 record in 3 starts, with a 2.57 ERA. As a team, the Indians are batting .231 against him, with 325 at bats. In the last three years, Day games have been no problem for the Tigers ace. He's 20-8 in 40 starts, with a 2.13 ERA, and opponents are batting .195 against him. His numbers against the Indians are great as well. 7-3 in 11 starts, with 2 complete games and a 2.96 ERA.

With the offensive slump the Tigers have been in, this could be another tight game. Danny Salazar got thumped in his last outing, getting yanked after just 3.2 innings, and giving up 5 ER's against the White Sox. But in his career, he has 4 day starts, and has posted a 0.92 ERA. Against Detroit, he has two starts, getting no decision in both, with a 2.63 ERA.

The Tigers ML at -155 is high, but I honestly expected it to be around the -175 mark, but since the Tigers aren't swinging the bat well, it's understandable. The O/U 7.5 may also be a good value play at +100. They put up 5 runs combined last night, and after a night game, they now play a day game. Having Verlander on the mound should limit Clevland's chances, but it's now a matter of whether the Tigers bats can wake up.

Burnett is pitching with a hernia. Not sure how that is going to play into his pitching, but his last outing was cut short. He's up against a Braves team that have won 2 straight against the Phillies, with one game being rained out. Atlanta's pitching has been great, and with Wood on the mound today, it could continue the trend, although the Phillies have hit well against left-handed pitchers. As a team, the Phillies have a .340 batting average in 47 at bats against Wood, while Burnett has not done well against the Braves.

Not sure which side to pick here. I like the Braves to win just given how well they've played in this series, but I think with Burnett's injury, and with how the Phillies have hit against left handed pitchers, this could go over 7. The Over 7 is currently at -105, so I may take that straight, or add it to a parlay.

Unfortunately wood hasn't been stellar against the phillies, but lately it seems that he is doing well while the Phillies offense has cooled down. What do you think?
