Some moron on TV the other night was saying that you scored 1.5 runs on average with 1st and 2nd, no outs when you let the batter hit away as opposed to bunting when teams score on average 1.4 runs.

That logic is extremely flawed.

Teams typically only bunt when they need to tie or win the game these days. As a result, they score and the game is over so there is no more scoring.

Other times when it's first and second it's a blowout and a gas can is in so the teams will score like 7 runs in he inning.

Bottom line, it would be 5-3 if they bunted.
