Is there a baseball stats source/service/program which will give me individual pitcher's start by start stats for the past five years, and be sortable by day's rest, era, pitches made, whip, etc? It would seem a simple thing, but I cant find one online paid or free. I guess what I really want is a large database which is sortable every which way, and can be updated with current season stats. Help a brother out.

#3I was looking for the same thing last year, with greater depth and breadth of analytics that you find on fangraphs.com and baseball-reference.com other sites. Was looking to generate custom pitching splits on e.g. home/day, home/night, away/day, away/night and stuff like that.
I came up empty. Hard to believe that with all the sports and IT geeks out there someone hasn't put together a kick-ass analytics site that lets you do your own filtering and searching just like you can do in Excel or with business intelligence software.
If anyone knows of such a site pipe up!Comment -

#4Yeah, I find the daily numbers crunching to be more tedious than I am willing to put up with in my agedness. I do fine for a month or so, then just don't have the resolve, or discipline to keep it up. I want something where you can even link events such as, all a pitcher's starts with fewer than 60 pitches, or over 100 AND his next two starts to see what effect if any is present. To keep logs of every starting pitcher and his stats is less daunting than it used to be, but still I think there ought to be somewhere where relatively complex data could be sorted. Oh well....Comment -

#5That is the problem really. Logging data is extremely tedious but it is a great way to get exactly what you want. After doing it for many years you will have an invaluable database. I get all of my data from mlb's website and it is more important what you do with it than the source of it.Comment
