Dont forget about the mercy rule. If a team leads by 10 runs after 7 innings the game is over.

Japan did finish it's pool in 2006 losing only to South Korea. They beat China 18-2 in 8 innings due to mercy, and beat Chinese Taipei 14-3, mercy in the 7th.
The only thing to worry about, is exactly what krk said. Japan is home team this time around, last time they were visitors so after surpassing the 10 run mercy, they were allowed to continue the inning as China would still have a chance to bat and get back within 10. This time around, if they pass 10 after the 7th, the game will be automatically called. So let's hope they surpass the mark before the 7th
