    MLB Betting 101
I love Baseball!! I think that MLB is the best betting opportunity of all the sports, I know its not glamorous, but it pays the bills! I think if more bettors knew how it works it would attract more bettors--if you are a baseball bettor what would you tell a newbie when it comes to betting baseball? Be a dog player? bet the pitchers? Ride a streak? this thread is to get more folks interested in bases and of course to make money in the long run!! Good luck this season--pitchers and catchers---report!!!

    1. Bet on home underdogs
    2. Bullpens are generally more important than who's starting
    3. Bet the same amount each game no matter how strongly u feel
    4. Never bet a -150 or greater favorite
    5. Read the lineups of both teams before placing bet
    6. Wait out the first month of the season
    7. Take the al team in most interleague games
    8. Betting on the yankees presents little value
    9. Betting on the reds will present much value.

      good list list fifa,

If you like to do your analysis on starting pitchers, be sure to look into 7 inning lines.

I personally never bet run lines, and i'm not afraid to lay the chalk, up to -300.

what happens in spring training means nothing (except injuries)

      go Yanks!

What should make this thread great is when we have opposing views...for example one of you suggests that betting a chalk up to 150 is one method while the other will go to 300. These differences on philosophy and betting on bases will help us all in the long run--would like to add some things on runlines too---one of the rules I have found is to ignore consensus. Many people in other sports live and die by betting "against" the public in baseball I think that should not even be used as a tool when handicapping.

Thanks for the input, hope to see more.

i really believe number 3 is so important. In baseball, its just so bad to vary your bets alot. Either bet the same or use kelly.

#5 is the only one I agree with and is common sense.

Just some info, home teams win more often in interleague play (about 57%) than during the regular season (about 54%), regardless of league, so leaning toward home teams rather than a certain league should produce better results

don't start betting on it until the rotations have gone through twice on each team

This is a sharp approach. There may be a gem of info that makes you place a bet in the first week or two but this is sharp.

So who are the top cappers on SBR for MLB in your opinions? So far fifa seems to know what's up.
