    Verlander clutch
I know Oakland has a lot of fighters on that team but can they handle the clutch veteran pitcher from Detroit, should be a good one

He wasn't so clutch in Game 1 of last year's World Series. The anemic Giants scored 5 off of him as he lasted only 4 innings - Zito beat him and Sonny Gray is far better than Zito - and these Oakland A's swing the bats a lot better than last year's Giants.

Not to mention that last year's Verlander was a lot better than this year's Verlander.

Will be interesting to see if Gray can repeat his Game 2 performance with the pressure on.

About as good as Verlander was but the question is as what no coincidences said can Gray repeat that I know verlander can, should be a good game no matter what if Detroit doesn't blow them out LOL

"about as good as Verlander was" ????? A little disingenuous, don't you think?

The pressure wasn't on when a loss would mean going down 2 games to 0 in a 3 game series heading to Detroit?

game 2 sonny gray gave up like 3 hits no runs i think thru 7 innings. score was 0-0 when they both came out. im going with the A's on a small play because i really like gray and i want the A's to win. history says other wise but hopefully the tigers bats go back to sleep.

well betting against wainwright at home in game 5 was just suicide. you got sucked into the +150. also that was a road game for cole. the cardinals are 8-1 in elimination games the past few years. different story.

I agree re different story. One could make a far better case that Wainwright was invincible last night than make one that Verlander is invincible here. Cole on the road vs Gray at home is a huge distinction - as is the fact that Wainwright had 5 Ws in his L6 reg season starts vs Verlander 1W in his L10. Wainwright and Cards had also defeated that same Bucs lineup the last time he/they faced them (gm 1) whereas Verlander and Tigers failed to defeat Gray and these A's when they had a shot to virtually end the series last Saturday.

No one said he pitched bad. He pitched great. Only said he didn't win. Only point is that he and Tigers are not invincible in this spot.

Oh I know that I think it will be a very good game , and I'm not saying that rookie is going to pitch bad either cause he probably will pitch very well as did Cole last night he pitched very well also he was just up against a very good cardinals team

I would assume that there's nothing like pressure that comes with a deciding game in a series. None of us -- Gray included -- have any idea how he will react to that tonight.

Tip of the cap. JV was just too good tonight. All 4 pitches +++. Cost me a few biscuits. A's had a great year. They were $ for me all season so no complaints there. Good call Pack.
