    Regul8er's 2013 MLB Playoff Thread
Alright.......havent made a wager in a few months. Going to let it fly on some MLB games.
A few losses early will knock me out. I love Fall baseball, and without some bets, I wouldn't be watching.

PLAY #1 - AL Wild Card Game - TAMPA BAY (-113.......Risk $170 to Win $150)

Cobb has a little more experience under his belt then Salazar, and is throwing the ball extremely well. I've taken a look at his last few starts on video, and he seems to have 4 or 5 pitches really working for him.

Salazar really seems to rely on his fastball at this point in his career.

I just don't see how the days off will benefit the Tribe, who were sizzling to end the year. Tampa already has the taste of a win or go game....and I see them feeding off that....or so I hope.

Good start last night. Cobb was able to work out of jams all night, while Salazar wasn't able to work out of his one troubling inning.

      PLAY #2 - NLDS Game #1 - PITTSBURGH (+140.......Risk $107 to Win $150)

I'll back Hurdle and his boys in this spot. Pirates are playing some inspiring baseball, and have already got the postseason nerves out of their system.

In terms of pitching, pretty even in my eyes. Burnett and Wainwright both had nice seasons and have pitched many playoff games. When looking at the matchups, both rosters are loaded with guys who have had past success against the opposing starter. The Buccos have 6 regulars who have had over 10 AB's vs Wainwright, with the lowest average at .273....not bad. A few less AB's on the other side vs Burnett, but definately some past success...so in my mind, no real advantage either way.

Cards are loaded with experience, and easily could run away with this......but at +140, I see too much value to pass up with Pittsburgh.

        PLAY #3 - NLDS Game #1 - LA DODGERS (-132.......Risk $198 to Win $150)

I waited this play out all day, in the hopes that the line would drop, and boy did it ever. I was close to locking this thing in around -140 earlier in the day.

I'll take Clayton Kershaw at this price all day long, even though both pitchers were virtually untouchable in September. Yes I know the Braves had a league high 56 wins at Turner Field. Yes I know they glove it with the best of them and the back end of their bullpen is unreal. But at the same time, I don't care........I'll happily back Kershaw, especially against a lineup that features 3 lefties at the top.

Well 1-1 yesterday, and profitted $43.....coulda been worse.

            PLAY #4 - NLDS Game #2 - ST. LOUIS (-133.......Risk $200 to Win $150)

Well after seeing the Cardinals performance yesterday, I jumped sides. Initially I liked the Bucs in this spot, but yesterday reminded me just how potent and dangerous this Cardinals lineup is, especially against lefties. In terms of pitching, I'll bet against a rookie pitcher making his first big boy start, at Busch Stadium. Cole has been impressive, no question, but let's see how he performs in the spotlight. It slightly worries me that the Cards have never seen this guy.....but the Cards will put up professional at bats, they always do. So far Perez and Salazar, both rookie starters, didn't have great games. I'm not a huge fan of Lance Lynn, but his splits are very good at home. He had a solid September, and the Pirates starters don't have much success off him, mind you in limited at bats. In fact, of the 6 starters who have seen Lynn, they are a combined 10-44, with 1 HR, coming off the bat of Alvarez.

I was hoping to see a run out of the Pirates, but yesterday was not encouraging for them. Give me the Cards and those bats!

welcome to the dark side brother!! lol...honestly i had this as the gm pirates may steal cause not sure how much i trust lynn but while cole's numbers look fantastic they kinda take a hit when you realize since he has started pitching great he has seen the cubs, pads, and brew crew all twice! dont think he gonna be able to breeze thru 6 today w/o getting over a 100 pitches, big step up for him and in the biggest gm of his life!

you gotta like doyers again as well dont you?

I mean the Cards are dangerous against righties! I'm still on the fence on the Dodgers game tonight.......I'll have a pick posted later.

Ya'll like the over on Detroit/Oak? 6 1/2 seems low considering these same pitchers went against each other last time they met and it was a 7-6 game. But maybe it's a sucker bet

DeLorean.......tough one, I don't have a lean either way there.

                    PLAY #5 - ALDS Game #1 - TAMPA BAY (+137.......Risk $110 to Win $150)

I just can't pass on Moore and Tampa at this price. I would give a slight advantage to Lester in the pitching matchup because of experience, but Moore is not far behind. I would also have to give the nod to Boston offensively, as they have more potential to hit that 3 run bomb. The Rays are on an incredible run, and have 3 MUST win games in a week. I'm hoping this coupled with the fact that Boston hasn't played a pressure packed game in a few weeks, will lead Madden and his boys to a Game 1 steal in Beantown.

Alright, I'm on the other side from most here.....but let's roll with the Braves tonight. Sure they looked like shite yesterday, but they were facing the best pitcher in baseball, who makes everyone look like shite. I don't mind going against Greinke in this spot.....let's see if he's grown up any. The perennial head case, who has struggled mightly in big games in his career. I believe his playoff ERA in 3 starts in over 6. Even though he has been money this year, hoping the Braves take him deep once or twice.

Alright.....now Im getting fired up. What is Tampa doing....anyone watching? First Jennings and Myers let Ortiz fly ball drop inbetween both of them, as they just stare at each other. Then Loney cant make a play on Drew with 2 outs.....then Lobaton lets a ball get by on strike 3, then another run after. WOW.
