No question is "dumb" unless it's not asked. This will be my first season here for M.L.B. in a similar fashion to it is my first season here for the N.H.L. I let the results speak for themself. In the near future, I'll set up a "guide" post as to how I do things. BOL this season.Comment -

Awesome, I love looking for the different diversity in handicappers. Can't wait to see the results. Your run in NHL [Outside of a sickening January] has been superb.

#5Hopefully they (the results) won't disappoint. Thank you "if" the puck would have bounced the other way in a couple games the results would be different but rare is the time one will hear me complain about a game lost unless it was a really bad/dumb play/call. Every board has a certain number of good M.L.B. cappers and while this is NOT a competition between themself any I (it's about beating the books), it'll be interesting to see where and how this season unfolds.Comment -

Thank you. Don't look for the same type of results. The goal is to be cash positive at season's end and there could be several big, nasty bumps along the way. The N.H.L. is still going.
Good afternoon theo19
Thank you and to you as well this season.Comment -

#9Here's how things are done - unless stated otherwise in the post with the days action.
I use a selection process that is similar to what's done for hockey. Selections are based on in part on stats, weather, ball park etc. Each one of them is given a numeric value. Those values are put into the equation to produce a result. That result is checked against their opponent to get a new result. From there action or lack of it is determined (type and amount). Check/do the next game. Repeat until all games have been `capped.
Games are ACTION not listed starting pitcher.
Unit is $100 US Dollars.
Action for game will be listed in the format below:
For a $-line wager:
number(s) ... team(s) ... risked amount/reward amount (if correct)
For a team total wager:
number ... team ... over/under number ... risk amount/reward amount
For a game total:
numbers ... teams ... over/under number ... risk/reward.
Games will be kept in the Spreadsheet here and in thread. They will be listed there before in thread. Not all days will have action. There will be a break around the All-Star Game. Playoffs and World Series are not a part of the regular season and are done a different way - if at all.
I will keep a running daily record in thread, best as I can, similar to the NHL thread. If a mistake has been made when I graded them, bring it to my attention in a manner of how you'd like it brought to you and I will look into it. Mistakes can happen and know if/when they do it is not intentional.
Comments, concerns and/or questions are welcome and will responded in the order they're received.
My goal for this season is to make $50,000+ (500+ units). The record may or may not "be pretty" - I don't care - as what matters most is, where's cash at the end of the day. For any number of reasons, I may end the thread at anytime. If that were to be the case, there would be as much time as possible listed.
Added on February 26, 2009:
Those to try to cherry pick will get burnt more times than not. One of the keys is to play them all everyday or don't play any of them.
Let's have a fun and profitable season.Comment -

#20Good afternoon OperatorX,
First off welcome to "my" thread and as a guest of it I expect civility and have ZERO TOLERANCE for trouble makers. Posting what you did on the second day of the new season qualifies you as such. I could give a rat's ass about my won-lost record, fyi your "claim of me going 0-6" has already been disproven, the method I use is about cash/money/units won. It's profitable for the season and that sir is more important. Do not come in here running your mouth you did, it's not acceptable. I treat everyone fairly and as equals. If you don't "believe" it, go read my NHL thread in the hockey forum and see for yourself from page one. Everyone is welcome in my thread, including you as long as you don't try to sling mud in here. Good luck with your season.Comment -

#27TA - you crazy SOB!!! Already over here lighting up the MLB pre-season!!!
Through all the adversity it amazes me that you keep killing it on all fronts!
Good work my friend! I'm going to follow this thread but slowing down on NBA and NHL to prepare for the NCAA tourney. Knowledge is power, so I'm doing my homework - I'm looking forward to seeing equal succes to you over here as the pucks!

It's just one day. Some people think having a system is "dumb" but in times like I've just gone through, it makes it a lot easier. A better response will be sent this evening - book it for the max.
Study hard for your test coming very soon (NCAA T'ment). Time will tell if pucks and bases are close enough to call "even". We'll just have to wait it out to see how the season unfolds. Pop in now and then when time permits.

Sorry for the delay in responding (was busy watching the games). To be 100% honest with you and others, it's not my place to tell you/others what your unit (size) should be. It's your money/bank roll and you who makes the final call on how much. My suggestion would be to pick an amount in which you could go the entire season without flinching in the event you lost it all. One of the things I do not "share" is the amounts in the accounts - I hope you can understand and appreciate why it has to be this way. Most importantly, stick to that unit in proportion to what gets listed here, playing them all and you will end up with more than you began with. This is not bragging, this is fact (a similar question was asked in my hockey thread). Best of luck this season.
