If Verlander doesn't get a win today....
The Tigers organization must want him out of there. I know he is not the same pitcher as last season, and Max has definitely taken the role as the ace of the club, but Verlander is only a 3.73 ERA (yes much higher than last season 2.64), and he has one of the top offenses in MLB batting for him. Lately, when he gets on the mound it seems as if his run support gets limited and the Tigers just all out quit. How is it that in each of their last 10 games as SP Fister 3.81 ERA nor Porcello 4.44 ERA have lost two games in a row? As a matter of fact they both won 5 games in a row in their last 10, and Verlander has only won two in a row in his last 10 games. The former Tigers ace (still pitching better than Porcello or Fister) has unbelievably lost 7 of his last 10 games. Thats ridiculous considering the Tigers offense and ability to come back and win like they did against the A's coming back from behind to beat them 7-6 from a 6-1 deficit. The Tigers basically own the Indians and Verlander's last win was against who? The Indians. There is no way Verlander should be on a four game losing streak and if he doesn't get a win today, with sufficient run support against Salazar and the Indians today, something is seriously wrong.

Look at whether the team wins behind a certain pitcher over if the individual gets a win. Tigers have won last 4 of 5 vs Indians behind Verlander, but are 13W-15L in his starts this season. Also, Miguel Cabrera sitting today; Santiago at 3b, Hunter (rf) hitting 3rd.

That's exactly my point. Although the Tigers own the Indians overall. It seems as if recently the Tigers don't get wins for Verlander and his performances aren't any worse than Fister's or Porcello's. This game looks like a great one for Verlander to come back and get a win from on paper but with the Indians looking to halt a five game losing streak, Cabrera out, and Jackson out, and the Tigers recent perfomances behind Verlander, I am not liking a side. It's the Indians losing streak versus Verlanders losing streak. Still if the Tigers don't sweep this series behind Verlander today, something is wrong. No side for me on this game for me. I was leaning on the Over but don't like the line movement and with Dirks leading off i'm sitting this one out.

Yeah, but he has kept the Indians scoreless through the 5th. That's pretty much the best they can ask from JV right now. Let's see how long he can remain in the game. What I can't understand is why the Tigers still are unable to score some runs on Salazar?

Good Win. This proves that something is clearly wrong between the Tigers and Verlander. This is now his fifth loss in a row. He is on par to match Sabathia's loss streak. The difference is that the Tigers are clearly a better team than the Yankees were when CC was going on that losing streak. Verlander actually pitched a good game today and still no run support whatsoever by the Tigers.

It's official. Verlander has deteriorated and the Tigers won't give him sufficient runt support to get him a win. They just knocked in 16 runs yesterday but couldn't get a win against Wade Davis. He remains a fade.

Verlander again has proven to be an excellent fade during the regular season. Unbelievable that he has only won 2 of his past 10 starts. Incredible.
