Grant Balfour threw that game on purpose. No way the Lastros can do that.
Had this 4 team parlay just get fvcked up by him.
Boston
Pittsburg
Detroit
Oakland

And why leave it to the bottom of the 9th?
It hurts to lose like that but it wasn't fixed. Don't be a dick.

Why do dickheads continue asking why games are fixed. Money off course. Even if you are a millionaire, an extra 10 or 100k is still more than you had before.
Why is there insider trading by CEOs who have a lot of wealth already. Greed. You think its a mere coincidence thinking that LA and Oakland lost in similar fashion. These bullpen pitchers dont make tonnes of money and all you need is their ear thats it.
Do people really think its a coincidence that a lot of games land on a 1 run difference and usually with one run scored by the losing team to cover the spread

And this is why sport betting is so unpredictable!
A game can turnover in a couple o plays.
This is what I think that happened. the underdog won.
And this isn't only in baseball.. it is in soccer, football, hockey, etc...

@Gasto
1) Players aren't in on a fix in this day and age.
No pro in their right mind is going to throw a game for 10K when the absolute, rock bottom mininum salary for a rookie is now 300K per year.
And no rock bottom rookie salaried player will ever be in a situation when the game is on the line anyway.
The average baseball salary in 2013 is now 3.2 million per year. No player is going to risk their entire professional career, or even prison, by throwing a game for 10K, or even 50K
Get caught, your life is ruined. don't believe me, look at Pete Rose.
2) You can't fix a game in the 8th inning, nobody knows what the situation will be in the 8th inning before a game starts, how can you pay off a reliever before a game starts? If the game is 9-2 after seven inning, how can a fix be done? What do you think happens, crooked nosed Guido calls down to the bull pen and tells the closer, "yo, tank the ninth inning and take a dive or you'll be swimming with the fishes, capice?"
3) Grant Balfour, the Oakland closer's contract this season is 4.5 million, he doesn't need fix money, all meals, hotels, and spending allowence is picked up by the team. He makes about 400 K a month. A month ! What does he need fix money for? He makes more in month than he needs to make in a year.
4) There is no covering the spread in baseball. It's a football term that isn't even relevant anymore, point spreads went out of style in the 50's, now it's called a line, there are no mroe spreads where books collect if the final score falls between a spread. That went out with Al Capone.
5) Did it ever occur to you that if a team has a two run lead in the ninth, and there is a man on first, they'll allow him second base with two out on what is called 'catchers indifference' because that runner doesn't mean shit, unless there is a homerun in which case he would have scored regardless of what bag he was on?
6) This pertains to the OP, maybe your 4 team parlay lost because your wagers depended on you winning four consecutive wagers for one payout. It's hard enough to pick two straight, but it's beyond me why anybody would bet 4 teams to win for one payout. Parlays are the reason why books have summmer homes, and parlay players eat spam and eggs.
7) On the rare occasions games are fixed, and some, but not many are, you fix it by getting to the umpire.
Umpires rotate clockwise from game to game, the man who umpired first base yesterday, will umpire home plate today, the umpire who had the plate yesterday, will get to umpire third today.
So, you can get to the firstbase umpire after the game today, and bribe him for tomorrow's game because he handles the balls and strikes.
The most common way to control (not fix) a game is the 2 ball, 2 strike pitch.
A lot of times, a 2 and 2 pitch that gets called a ball when it was clearly strike three is an indicator that a fix might be in.
How many times have you seen a strike 3 call be called ball 3, only to have the next pitch creamed over the fence?
That's how a game is commonly fixed, and it's not that common a game is fixed.
8) Anybody who cries fix after a losing a wager, really, really, needs to find a new hobby, because betting sports is not for you.

Spot on, Nash. #6 and #8: The player, manager, team, umpire didn't place and lose a wager, you did. Own it.

I think its very fishy in that the guy was 26 for 26 and then goes and shits the bed against the worst team in the league.

the point spread is definitely fixed in both college and pro basketball.
thats why its so important to watch for reverse line movement and who the public on in that sport.
But baseball you can throw that shit out window. baseball is the only pure sport.
except for steroids but who cares about that.

Sports fixes happen but not often. Its been exposed especially in soccer. I cant say oak through this game though. Balfour got dinged up. Even his lone out was a deep fly ball that almost went for a hr

Nash, appreciate your comments.
Do you know who Balfour associated with before he got a 4.5 million contract. Do you think the Italian and other European soccer players and clubs caught up in scandals earn peanuts
They will fix games because the average Joe believes everything is on the up and up and there is no reason to do it. Again, why do multi millionaires or billionaires get caught up in Accounting scandals, Enron, insider trading. Think about Cohen, billionaire hedge fund and he and his people were trading on insider info.
Its not always plain, but when thinks dont make sense, I am always suspicious. Oakland and LA lost in suspicious ways. Well they came around and both did not cover the 1.5 spread. You are talking about 400K salary, real question is how much did books stand to lose if the two teams won and you think they would not drop a few hundred ks to alter outcomes. Its a business decision and if there is a taker its possible to happen
By the way at the All Star i heard the players were tweeting, so not sure if these players do have phones. Communication is so much easier that things can be done. I have no proof games were fixed. Similarly you have no proof to the contrary. Only thing is the ending with errors etc just looked a bit suspect

Dude, the comebacker to Balfour he knocked down, scrambled to pick it up, fell while doing it, and threw it away.
Nothing phony about that play.
What are you trying to tell me? Fixes are tweeted in now?
You serious dude? All those communications are out there for anybody to see.
Balfour is a regular kid from Australia, his agent is Trevor Jarrett who is clean as the day is long.
You trying to tell me Balfour is associated with the Australian mafia?

Nash, i was simply pointing out that if they have communications devices then anything is possible. U think the someone would be that blatant to tweet to a player to fix a game. A message can be passed thru an e-mail set up with phony details. Nobody monitors millions of gmail accounts most of which users dont use their real names.. Use some imagination.
By the way, if A Rod is guaranteed so much money why would he risk all that by doing drugs. People do things which defy logic and the sooner we realize it the easier is to understand that anything is possible. Braun is out , many more athletes use peds. Is it a stretch that they can collude to fix the outcome of some but not all games
