Enough with the avoiding the sweep nonsense. It's completely meaningless. Do you think Volquez is going out there thinking that he doesn't want to pitch his best because his team has claimed the first two games of the series, or that Maholm has something extra special prepared because the Braves have lost the last couple of days?

It does work though. Winning teams don't get swept that much. Players are more likely to be more motivated too.

Edinson Volquez has been getting lit up lately. He's tipping his breaking pitches and can't locate his fastball.
Padres bats have been pretty good lately. My play is on the 1st 5 innings, over 4.

Maybe i shouldnt have been shocked. Fuc*ing awful.

They get the leadoff runner on first with zero outs in back to back innings and have one run to show.

                                      NO heart, no offense.

Maholm has a track record for poor road starts, *ESPECIALLY* against the Padres. Combine that with a dramatic improvement from Volquez and the Braves inability to score runs at Petco National Park. If you're going to chase, the smart money would be chasing the Padres. EV+ all 3 games at home against a team they've dominated at home in the last 3 seasons.

And as I say that, Volquez strikes out the side in the 7th.

Well said man, I'm not going to comment on the side because at this point almost everything is hindsight. I see the Padres almost everyday - the rule of thumb generally fade Volquez on the road, you can back him @ home, but almost always check the total lines in his starts, because they gone 'over' 6 of his last 8 games. Allbeit this game's total @ 8 puts you in a difficult position, that could easily push. Dude has a 1.65 WHIP that is badddd.

Sorry guys, I would've warned against betting my Braves had I seen this thread earlier-we're playing pretty horribly right now, and are just mediocre on the road. We're straight up cash at home, haven't lost a home series yet. Start a 3 or 4 game chase when they come back home on Fri-I guarantee we'll win at least one game in the next home series (most likely win the series). I watch nearly every game, except some of the afternoon games when I'm working. We have Kris Medlen up next, who has been pretty sharp despite not getting much run support, and Mike Minor on Sat, who has essentially become our ace at the moment. With our two best pitchers up next, we'll get at least one win. Take that to the bank my friends!
