Picks from a NOOB

First off, I am like a 3 week old noob to the handicapping scene. I do not recommend anyone tailing me. I started with 25 units (BR=500/U=20) and am down to 3.5. I lost a lot of those being an idiot and betting way more then I should. Again, I am a noob and just got carried away in all the excitement. I have learned quite a bit in these past weeks, though, and have a little more confidence in making picks. It is kind of late since my BR is almost depleted, but I figured, what the hell, why not start a thread and post my picks. Who knows, you all may witness my rise. If not, then, my demise. If I hit zero I don't plan on doing anything until football starts.

Either way should be somewhat interesting and entertaining.

Also, if any of you reading this want to drop some advice my way it would be appreciated. To all the trolls, give the new guy a break.

keep at it man. like everything else it takes time to get good. if you do end up losing your BR keep making picks. you dont have to put money down in order to improve. practice is important in this hobby. the more picks you make the more chances you have to see what works and doesnt work for you. and eventually you will be able to hone that in and win more than you lose. something ive had to learn the hard way, and am still dealing with, is playing parlays. they are hard to resist b/c they can look so appealing, but ive yet to see or hear of anyone that makes profit from playing alot of these. especially the ones that are over 2-3 picks. once you do have a good BR going again probably the most important thing to keep in mind is BR management. there are all kinds of opinions and strategies for proper BR management, but just come up with something that you think is right for you and then stick to it. the best way to blow a BR is to throw management out the window and focus on recouping losses instead. all that being said if this is something you enjoy doing, keep doing it, try not to make it about making money. but instead make it about making correct picks. get that part down good and the profits will follow.

So after that fiasco of a parlay up there I was down to 46 bucks and took a break. On Sunday I dropped the last of my BR on the Rangers to close out the series with St. Louie. Winner. The next day I placed 3 bets all for 40 bucks. Hit 2 outta 3. Last night 6 bets of varying sizes including a 2 team parlay. Hit 6 outta 6. Went from $46 to $460 in 3 days. I know its not all that much compared to what some are winning and I am not trying to brag or anything. Just, as you may imagine, in a good mood and want to share this with folks who will understand.

I want to thank everyone on this site who takes time to post their picks. There is so much valuable information to be found here. I want to send a special thanks to Jsleeeee and BennyBigNuts. Jsleeeee is some kinda handicapping witch, it was due to her that I hit the parlay. Check out her thread. And Benny, well, he has BigNuts. Followed his sage advice to bet the RL on two games I was leaning on the ML. Both winners, 1 at +200, the other +190.
