Astros at Brewers - Aug 17th
    Brewing Up A Winner

With the Astros struggling and on the road with a rookie hurler, taking Ben Sheets and Milwaukee is an easy choice.

    By: Al McMordie

Our selection is on the Milwaukee Brewers with Ben Sheets over Houston and its rookie Jason Hirsh. Hirsh was bombed in his first start -- giving up four runs and nine baserunners in four innings. And that outing was against light-hitting San Diego.

Ben Sheets has made four starts since returning from injury. Not including his August 5th start when he pitched just one inning (giving up one run), he's gone 22 innings with 23 strikeouts and just one walk and 19 hits (for a WHIP of .909).

Take the Brewers and good luck, as always.

The way they're playing right now has me shying away from Houston, period. Hirsh could be a little more settled in for his second start, but I think there will be even better prices on the Astros' opposition along the way when Oswalt, Clemens and Pettitte are on the mound. And the Astros have proven in the past week they can't win those games either.

Well the astros are my team but after getting swept by the cubs I have officaily given up on them and find it kind of surprising that they are such a popular pick today. The stros simply have no heart,,no brain...and no balls. Time and time again I have watched them fail to execute in clutch situations and just play stupid baseball. Take Huff up with the game tied bases loaded and 1 out. Infield is in...all he has to do is get the ball in the air with any depth and we win. Whats he do? He grounds to first and barley beats out the 3-2-3 double play.

If you look at the home road offensive splits on some of the stros they will blow your mind. When the put Lamb and Huff in the game for offense there defense suffers and they sucked defensively to began with. I love Hirsch as a prospect and watched him pitch in corpus about 4 or 5 times. But with him being a rookie Ill take the other side of this bet or stay away altogether. Even with out Carlos Lee and Rickie Weeks in there.

Houston can not hit and Sheets will hold them down, but there's noway I could lay that wood.

Another example of why you should always take my notions about the Astros with a grain of salt. Just can't get a good feeling for a team when you have that much of your heart in them. Let's see, they got 11 hits, three for extra bases, and only left six runners on. That's should blow Houston's wad for the rest of the weekend as far as offense goes.

This team reminds me of the Nationals. Just when you think their offense is dead they come out and score seven runs. It's really hard to figure this team out.

Willie- You should always take what I say about the astros to heart. When I say they will lose they will win....and when I am sure they will win they are gonna put up an L.

Ag, it's often the same for me but I only wish it was that easy. Tried to fade myself for a while and I was still wrong
