With last night's fine performance by Kelvim Escobar in a 6-3 win over the ChiSox, the Halos kept pace with the A's in the AL West. Now they head east to take on the disappointing Cleveland Indians.
LOS ANGELES -115 (WEAVER) VS. CLEVELAND (SOWERS) 7:05 ET
This season has been nothing but pure disappointment for Eric Wedge and the Tribe, and these two clubs are headed in completely opposite directions. They just got swept in Detroit that saw them lose two 1-run leads late, and their bullpen continues to torment them on a daily basis. Not a good thing when going up against these Halos who one, handle left-handed pitching very well, and two, have one of the better pens in the majors. This Soward kid for the Tribe has looked solid in his L/3 starts going 2-0 with an ERA of 0.78. However, I love the fact that LA played long ball with lefty hurler Mark Buehrle last night and get to come right back tonight to face another south-paw. On top of that, Jared Weaver has been nothing short of fantastic on the road this year going a perfect 5-0 with a 2.04 ERA. The kids got the electric stuff to have the Tribe guessing all night long. He faced them back in early June and struck out 8 and walked 2 while giving up 2 runs and 4 hits in 6 innings of work. The Angels are still in the heart of the AL West pennant race, while the Tribe's season had a fork stuck in it long ago. The Tribe's been terrible protecting it's house losing 8 of their L/11, while Mike Scioscia's club was won 7 of their L/9 roadies. Back the Halos as a short road chalk as the value position of the night. This lines off by at least .25 cents!!!
