    Handicapper Ben Burns Baseball play
Game: Oakland Athletics at Seattle Mariners Aug 6 2006 4:05PM

    Play: Under

Reason: The first two games of this series have both resulted in identical 5-2 Oakland victories. That brings the 'under' to a healthy 8-2 the last 10 times that the A's traveled to Seattle. Additionally, the 'under' is now 82-63 (56.5%) the last 145 times that the A's have played within their division. Today figures to be another relatively low-scoring affair. Although July wasn't his best month, Meche has been solid at home this season, going 6-3 with a respectable 3.58 ERA. He's also 3-1 in seven daytime starts, holding opposing hitters to a low .220 batting average. Meanwhile, Blanton has given up just three earned runs over 13 2/3 innings in his last two starts. That's a 1.98 ERA. Even more impressive, Blanton is 3-0 with a miniscule 0.78 ERA against the Mariners this season. In 23 innings he has allowed just 14 hits and only two earned runs! During that 3-game stretch he recorded 10 K's to just one walk. Lets look for another well-pitched game with the final score finishing UNDER the total.

Cappers are going to be giving us their plays and more importantly, why they like them. No selling picks here.

Love the play or hate it, its going to give their angles on the games. In the future the picks will probably stay in the forum of that sport.
