The Detroit Tigers acquired first baseman Sean Casey from the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday in exchange for minor-league right-hander Brian Rogers, Pirates general manager Dave Littlefield announced.

He has really cooled down from that amazing start, but I think they should have left his bat on the bench instead of demoting him.

i think this was a good move for the tigers. this young team needs a few more vets to help these youngsters out down the streach. besides, casey is a .304 lifetime hitter, and that sure doesn't hurt matters at all.

Pretty amazing after the start he got off to that Shelton gets demoted.
And how about those Pirates?! It's got to suck being a longtime Pirates fan and see them selling out at the trade deadline year after year after year. Casey, Roberto Hernandez, Oliver Perez and Craig Wilson! So much for that feel-good feeling McClatchy was hoping for after hosting the All-Star Game this summer.

This makes no sense. The Tigers were already among the worst teams in MLB against LHP, and now they bring in a left-handed bat to take the place of one of their righties?

i agree 100% bud, but the pirates wanted to build around those two players for the future. my only question is what type of future would that be for this team 2nd to last place

I think oil will become obsolete before The Pirates or The Rockies win a World Series.
