It goes something like this: the World Series' schedule was set before they added the play in game. To accommodate the game and keep everything on schedule, they had to eliminate an off day somewhere. I guess the 2-2-1 format in a 5 game series involved 2 off days (travel days and/or rainout makeup days), so they cut a travel day off with a 3-2 format. They can't have the higher seed team at home for the first three games so the lower seed team gets the first two at home.
Next year it will go to 2-2-1 because they will add the extra days to accommodate the format......end the season on Sunday instead of a Wednesday like they have the last two seasons.Comment -
WTG playing a 162 game regular season and then not being able to find a couple of extra days to accomodate for a proper postseason.
That said, I won't be complaning if the Giants win their 2 home games vs the Reds this weekend.
