What type of info are the books or other sites getting off of these?

I'd like to know this too. Are there any books that explicitly say in their T&C's that they will install this tracking device on your computer?
Seems shady.

Iesnare is to prevent fraud, and in online casino's to prevent bonus whores/advantage gamblers from claiming a sign up bonus. I believe it identifies a computer rather than just an IP address and then associates that computer with you. If you then open a second account using the same computer or do something shady like a ********** they can flag your computer and investigate closer when you use that computer sign up for another account or at another site using iesnare.
As for the tracking, every site has ridiculous amount of trackers like facebook tracking every site you visit on the web. Use ghostery it's a firefox and chrome extension that blocks all that crap. It will show you what it blocks when you go to a website, you'd be surprised how many trackers there are and you'll find facebook tracking you EVERYWHERE! It's a pretty good extension. If you use livehelp chat at a book you need to pause ghostery to get it to work, and then after the chat you can turn ghostery back on.
