Toronto’s own theScore Bet is launched in Ontario, Canada, on April 4th, 2022, as one of the first iGaming operators licensed and regulated by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, iGaming Ontario, and the Responsible Gambling Council.

theScore Bet Welcome Bonus and Promo for Ontario
Due to unique regulations set by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, only online sportsbook providers are allowed to promote new user bonuses, odds boosts, and other promotions. In the States, theScore Bet is typically around the industry average when it comes to bonuses. For current promotions, visit theScore Bet Ontario or chat with the experienced sports betting community on our Forum.

theScore Bet Launching in Ontario
theScore’s President and Chief Operating Officer, Benjie Levy, spoke to SBC Americas regarding their preparation and outlook on the Ontario market.

“Ontario has come to market with a very competitive framework covering sports betting and iGaming with a very reasonable tax rate, so we think this is going to be one of the most, if not the most, lucrative iGaming jurisdictions in North America.”

theScore Betting App
Born as a sports media and news provider, theScore brings a tremendous amount of previous experience in the app development landscape. That experience shows in theScore Bet sports betting app, which boasts pregame and in-play markets, early cash-outs, lightning-fast scores, live odds movement, etc.

You get more insight than your average sportsbook app with theScore as it’s integrated with theScore’s news and scores app, helping you navigate between media and betting. You can sync your favorite teams and build a bet slip while browsing articles, looking at stats and standings, and other significant portions of the new app.

Looking at user reviews at the Apple App Store puts theScore Bet’s rating on par with industry leaders like FanDuel and PointsBet. Android users on Google Play have given the app a slightly lower overall rating but still keep it above four stars. Another solid indicator of attention to customer care is that you get unique responses from customer service representatives if you have a negative experience instead of automated responses from a bot sending you to an email like most sportsbooks.

Live Betting at theScore Bet Ontario
theScore Bet is built on a proprietary technology stack, giving them a unique and compelling product offering. This was an essential component that Penn National Gaming valued in their recent acquisition of the company. They plan to move Barstool Sportsbook onto the same technology.

This flexibility gives theScore Bet a high-quality live betting platform. It all once again ties into the background they have in news and media. They know this business well, and being an online sportsbook provider is just a complement to their media empire.

theScore Bet Reputation
Based in Toronto, Ontario, theScore operates of the most popular sports apps in Canada. The company was founded in 1994 when it was launched as a broadcast network, Sportscope.

theScore media app launched and began providing sports news in 2005. The Score Television Network was purchased in 2012 by Rogers Communications, but digital media assets such as theScore app were not part of the deal.

theScore secured a multi-state market access agreement with Penn National Gaming in the summer of 2019, shortly before launching theScore Bet in New Jersey. In August 2021, Penn National acquired theScore in a $2 billion deal.

Bettors like the personalization you get by connecting one of North America’s most popular sports news apps with a sportsbook. The layout is clean and easy to use without spamming you too heavily with low-value daily boosts. theScore Bet does lack some of the more entertaining and engaging betting functions that some competitors offer. Still, it makes up for that by the extensive statistics and high-quality news and advice you get through the news app connection.

Overall, theScore Bet is set up to offer bettors in Ontario one of the province’s better legal and regulated online sports betting platforms. It won’t be your one-stop shop as you’ll occasionally find better offers from competitors like PointsBet and FanDuel, but theScore Bet holds its own against the top competition in Ontario.
