One thing people underestimate with Bush is the undersampling. Just as people don't want to admit they will not vote for a black guy, Republicans do not want to admit they support Bush. Sanders is the kind of guy that wins after an 80% stock market crash and 25% unemployment. Americans are still hoping that giving the rich what they want will deliver them. I don't think Bernie even wants to win. He is the Howard Dean. Dean showed the Dems how they needed to campaign and then Kerry took his campaign and won the nomination. They are just tuning Hillary up.
Dems absolutely are not going to vote for him. Hillary is actually very popular with Dems when you look at the numbers. They just want her to be a little more like Bernie.

I don't think Sanders could win Florida or Ohio in a general election.
In a crash, it's possible that the country could turn right wing. But at that point, society has already been liquidated so there is nothing left but socialism. You either get a socialist or a military takover. 50-50 chance either way.
