Cubs will win the world series in the next 3 years
Just needed a thread to bump if this possibly hits. I give credit to lakerboy for this strategy.

If they don't make a serious playoff run in the next 3 years I would think it would be a disappointment.

Should happen.
Next year Theo will be starting his SECOND 5 year plan.
If they don't win the World Series, he can just start a THIRD 5 year plan.

There was probably a 76ers Season ticket holder's event tonight.
My guess is someone said "We look forward to a successful and exciting season."

people said the same thing about the washington nationals
it takes more than talent. It takes a TON of luck!
remember the Royals shouldnt even be in the World Series...
only reason they got the wild card is Mariners went ice cold at the end of the season.
and they should have lost the wild card game.
They were down 7-3 in the bottom of the 8th.
And then down again by 1 run in extra innnings
The A's who are supposed to have a good bullpen not only blew a save once but twice in order for the Royals to even make the ALDS.

I'd say Houston wins it before the Cubs, in the next 3 years.

a big piece of it depends upon how the free agent market for starting pitchers is the next 3 years.
Cubs already have a ton of power without their prospects all being here or developing (can't wait to see Kris Bryant)
they were 2nd in NL in HR's behind the Rockies only.
so they have potential to be a Baltimore type lineup that can put runs up in bunches. I think Theo will get the green light to start spending some of the big Cub $ on starting pitching soon, if he hasn't been given the green light for this offseason already.
by the way, different topic, did you guys see them tearing the bleachers apart for the renovations?

He was hired October 2011. His first season was 2012. So he's had 3 seasons. And now you're already talking about season 11. It takes time to transform a mess.

That's true. That's why you build a team for sustained success. If you put everything on one season (A's 2014), odds are you will be disappointed and hurt the franchise. But if you make the playoffs most seasons, you'll break through eventually. That's what the Cardinals have done. They mad the playoffs most seasons, and every so often they win one. Even the Braves only won one during their run.

Cubs can make some noise this year if they get one more respectable starter signed via free agency.

False. This us season 4. Next year is season 5. The second five year plan would start the following season. Theo has done and is doing exactly what be Saud he would, probably even better and ahead of schedule. Theo is probably the best mind in the game.

Cubs haven't won since 1908 and still fans flood the stadium every year thinking this is the year. My god it's the blind leading the blind.

Hope this turns out better than Ra77 thread on Oilers making NHL playoffs
Desperate Chicago Cubs fans were forced to pee into cups as lines for the bathroom at Wrigley Field stretched through the concourse and out into the stands on opening day.
Lol! and yet that stadium will be packed next year, dumb ass fans

Schwarber is a difference-maker for the Cubs. Drafted just a year ago.
Theo is the best in the biz. He knocked down literally the entire organization and rebuilt it from scratch. Virtually nothing left from before he took over. The minors were completely barren when he stepped in. I don't believe any team has ever taken this drastic an approach. It's just starting to come together. And Cubs are legit contenders this season.
