Baez clubs his 2nd and 3rd HR's today (3 for the series). This kid's power is pretty much unheard of for a middle infielder.

This Baez kid will not be a hall of famer. Why. Cause his swing is so violent he will be battling back trouble in the near future and going forward

Not sure about his minors numbers but he should strikeout a fukkton with that kind of swing.

More swagger than MLB ability right now. He'd fit in with the Braves.

Yes, he'll have swing and miss in his game, just like most of the top HR hitters like Stanton, Trout, Chris Davis, Dunn, Alvarez, Bruce and so on.

The way he moved that runner over to third in the eighth had a HOF quality to it

got some hrs in coors. but people expected him to be a power hitter. not sure good he is striking out so much, starting him off at coors might have been the worst thing for him mentally. now he is going to be swinging and trying to pull pretty much everything.

Everybody's a scout lol. It's his fourth game for christs sake. How did Mike Trout do his first couple months? Baez is a special talent. But not as special as Kris Bryant. He's next year.

well you started this thread to get some eyeballs on this baez kid. people are watching. they are giving honest opinions. i see a guy that is swinging out of his shoes and misses alot. that's why you got to give the kid time to adjust and the league to adjust to him. it seems a carefully placed breaking ball now and then should be suffice to get this kid out every at bat.

Swinging out of his shoes is what he does. But you're right about adjusting. Everyone pretty much expects him to struggle this year. He has struggled initially at every level before eventually dominating. He started this season .146 through May 16 and then took off. Last year he led the minors in HR after a slow start.

Is the kid ever going to put the ball in play again? Six straight K's.

6ks in a row. I think the major league record is 12. Half way there. He's going to have to adjust his swing or major leaguers are going to carve him up. PCL is an easy league to hit in and Baez was only hitting 260 there vs AAA scrubs. He'll end up hitting about 180 probably in the majors this season.

forget Joan Baez people
big picture
This cat was in THEO'S minor league system for two and a half years ........that's two and a half years.....and can't get a runner.....with NO outs....over to third from second. Is striking out like it's the key to heaven. Isn't exactly putting on a clinic in the field. And, OUTSIDE OF COORS, is virtually more of a ghost at the plate than all of the SBR mod driven posts here.
What does this tell you about the rest of the great "prospects"?? What does this say about the future of the team?? Theo has shown NOTHING in his time as Cubs GM except wait out or eat major salary hits they had when he first appeared.
Forget "it's early". Joan Baez was held back. Joan Baez was groomed. Joan Baez was suppose to bring more. Castro isn't close to what was prognosticated at short. Rizzo isn't gonna carry any team. In a strong line up, he might shine. Not on this team. The sCrUBS have a lot of supposed bats in the pipeline. What pitching they have now will be gone by the time any of that offensive talent really produces at the big league level. IN MLB, pitching wins World Series.
The five year contract of Theo has a couple to go. He either is on the road, or (more likely) gets extended. Then 5 becomes 10 becomes 15 becomes 100. I mean 200.
It's a good time to be a Cubs loser homer.
err Fan
oh by the way.....forget this Hall of Fame horseshit

Guess the homers missed his at bat with a runner at second with no outs tonight. He will cost them more games than he will win.
