The 2026 World Cup gets underway in a couple of days, but we're a week out from the start of Group H play, where we'll find tournament favorite Spain. And naturally, as the favorite to win it all, the Spanish are a -475 betting favorite to win their group.

So my Group H best bets and predictions naturally don't include that as an outright play.

📅 World Cup 2026: Group H schedule

The schedule for Group H will feature some hot days across the southern states, and the top two teams in the group (Spain and Uruguay) play their first and second games in the same venue.

  • June 15 -> Spain vs. Cape Verde (Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta)
  • June 15 -> Saudi Arabia vs. Uruguay (Hard Rock Stadium, Miami Gardens, Fla.)
  • June 21 -> Spain vs. Saudi Arabia (Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta)
  • June 21 -> Uruguay vs. Cape Verde (Hard Rock Stadium, Miami Gardens, Fla.)
  • June 26 -> Cape Verde vs. Saudi Arabia (NRG Stadium, Houston)
  • June 26 -> Uruguay vs. Spain (Estadio Akron, Zapopan, Mexico)

⚽ World Cup 2026: Group H best bets

Spain to win all group games (-110)

With this group, things are pretty cut-and-dried. Spain is the World Cup odds favorite, and I'm not going to dwell too much on why they should topple Cape Verde and Saudi Arabia with relative ease. Spain may even rotate in these games, opting to keep some of their injured players on the sidelines or limiting minutes for players they'll want to keep fresh as the tournament advances. But with Spain (no. 2-ranked) and Uruguay (no. 16), there is a really big quality gap ahead of Saudi Arabia (no. 61) and Cape Verde (no. 67).

With the way the schedule is set up, it's possible that Uruguay and Spain both win their first two games ahead of their head-to-head clash, making the final game of the group the one that decides who finishes first. With a third win, that will be Spain.

While Uruguay plays quality defense with solid pressing, Spain's ability to stretch the field with wings like Lamine Yamal is only part of the equation (he should be back by the finale, as he's returned to training). The midfield, Pedri and Rodri in particular, can control any day. Rodri will anchor the build-up, Pedri will find spaces behind the high press to dictate the play from there.

🔬 SBR EDGE

The pick: Spain to win all group games (-110)

The why: The way the schedule shapes up for Group H, both Uruguay and Spain can enter the final game 2-0 with the group on the line, limiting rotation in the group's final game and making it possible that the Spainish favorites still have something to play for.
