The 2026 World Cup gets underway in one week, but you have to wait a few extra days for Group E action. And you'll have to look further than "Who will win Group E" to find value, as Germany (-250) is a runaway betting favorite. Seems like Ecuador, Ivory Coast, and Curacao aren't expected to give the European powerhouse a run.
So, my Group E best bets and predictions have to dig deeper to find the best value we can in the relatively uncompetitive group.

- June 20 -> Germany vs. Ivory Coast (BMO Field, Toronto)

⚽ World Cup 2026: Group E best bets
Group E dual forecast: Germany / Ecuador (-115)
I don't think we need to get too deep into the Germany side of this wager. Nagelsmann has rebuilt this team for the next generation, coming up with a decent showing at the 2024 (where they bailed out 2-1 against the eventual champion Spain in the semis) and finishing tops of their group at the 2025 UEFA Nations League Finals. They haven't yet shown they can compete with the biggest of the big guns, but their high-pressing and quick transitions should be too much for another in this group to match up with. They shouldn't finish worse than second, even in the event of a stumble, which is why I prefer the dual forecast over the exact dual forecast.
Ecuador finishing in one of the top two spots should be contested only by the Ivory Coast - in fact, their game on the 14th likely decides the outcome of the group. It should boil down to the battle between Sangare, Kessie, and Oulai of the Ivory Coast vs Moises Caicedo, Piero Hincapie, and Willian Pacho. That Ivory Coast trio will look to get Amad Diallo into positions to create chances, but the Ecuadorian side is adept at lateral containment and midfield screening, and Caicedo will often position himself to disrupt passes to Diallo. The result is that that Ivory Coast will be funneled to the midfield, and the Ecuador defense will take over. Three points here should secure a top-two spot.
🔬 SBR EDGE
The pick: Group E dual forecast: Germany / Ecuador (-115)
The why: Germany is a shark in a group of fish here, and Ecuador's historically miserly defense should be able to secure them the points needed to snag a top-two spot.
