Portugal takes the pitch for a Round of 32 match against Croatia, and I'm diving into all the Cristiano Ronaldo props and odds for the knockout-stage game. Ronaldo has had an inconsistent tournament thus far, but against a defense that was hammered by England, I expect him to have one of his better games of the World Cup.

Play from BMO Field in Toronto is set for 7 p.m. ET, airing on FOX, Telemundo, and FOX One. Portugal is a -140 betting favorite on the three-way line.

Below, I break down the best Ronaldo props as part of my World Cup best bets.

‼️ THE MOST IMPORTANT NOTE ON THIS GAME

Don't look at averages for Croatia's defense. While this is a team that allowed 12 shots per game in the group stage, 22 of the 36 allowed came against England. Portugal plays much more similarly to England than Ghana or Panama, so I expect Ronaldo and the rest of Portugal's offense to have plenty of chances in this game, just like Harry Kane and England did.

πŸ’° Best Cristiano Ronaldo prop prediction

Cristiano Ronaldo to score a goal (+110) vs. Croatia

Ronaldo has only scored in one of his three World Cup matches, but I love this price against a defense that really struggled with Kane and England. In that match, Kane scored twice, as he and England's forwards finished with 1.43 expected goals.

Though Ronaldo wasn't able to beat the defenses of Colombia or Congo, he has scored in four of his last eight competitive matches with Portugal. He also has 10 goals in his last 12 competitive matches with his national team.

💵 SBR Edge: Croatia's defensive struggles began before the World Cup

Ronaldo's recent success in competitive games isn't the only reason to back him to score. In its final two qualifying matches, Croatia allowed three goals to Montenegro and the Faroe Islands. If you include those matches and the four friendlies Croatia played before the World Cup, Croatia has conceded a goal in eight of nine matches.

Cristiano Ronaldo Over 1.5 shots on target (-115) vs. Croatia

While Ronaldo is averaging two shots on target per game at this World Cup, five of his shots on net came against Uzbekistan. However, for as disappointing as his other two matches were, Ronaldo didn't wholly disappear in the final group stage match against Colombia, putting one of his three shots on goal.

The only offensively minded side Croatia has faced at this World Cup is England. In that match, the Croatians allowed 11 shots on goal, five of which were to forwards. In this matchup, the price of -115 is excellent, and likely only so favorable because Ronaldo wasn't more consistent during the group stage.

Cristiano Ronaldo Over 4.5 shots (+130)

England put 22 shots up against Croatia. Kane alone had seven in that match. While Ronaldo has just three shots in two of his three matches at this World Cup, Croatia is a side that tends to find itself playing a lot of defense, unless facing a completely defensive-minded team like Ghana or Panama.

During World Cup qualifying, Ronaldo recorded at least five shots in four of his five matches, with at least seven shots in three of those games.
